It is not a very tough task to search and get Jobs through GATE Examination in the country. With a Long

list of Public Sector Undertaking units, aspiring job seekers can easily apply for many jobs through this

major examination that happens once every year.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is considered as one of the most important examination

which gives candidates an opportunity to apply for various Public-Sector Undertaking companies and

many other private organizations. GATE is an all India level exam. After getting good score in GATE exam

candidates can also enroll themselves for Masters (ME/M.Tech) in renowned engineering colleges which

More than Appling for Job after GATE Exam

After getting good score in GATE examination, candidates can join the best institute for their Post-

Graduate programme and can go into the research field as well. Various public/ private companies visit

these institutions to offer campus placement for the eligible students.

Candidates after qualifying GATE are also eligible to get stipend in the form of UGC scholarship.

Candidates can become Junior Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow in various organizations e.g.

ISRO, DRDO, BARC, CSIR, IITs etc. GATE score will help the candidate in getting Scientists “C” grade jobs.

A valid GATE score also helps in getting teaching jobs as well.

Eligible Criteria to appear for GATE Examination

Candidates who possess Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years

after B.Sc./Diploma in Engineering/ Technology) and those who are in the final year of such programs.

Or, B. Arch. (Five years course). Or, Bachelor’s degree in Science (Post-Diploma/ 4 years after 10+2). Or,

Post-Graduation in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent.

Or, Post-BSc Integrated Master’s degree programs in Engineering/ Technology (Four-year program). Or,

Integrated Master’s degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering / Technology (Five-year

program) Or, B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. equivalent examinations of Professional Societies, recognized by

MHRD/UPSC/AICTE.

Age Limit to Apply for GATE Examination

No upper age limit.

Selection Procedure to Crack GATE Examination

GATE examination consists two sections (General Aptitude and Technical + Engineering Mathematics).

Total 65 questions will be asked in the exam and the time limit to solve them will be 3 hours (180

Minutes). The pattern of the questions will be in two forms Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and

Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions. There will be negative marking for choosing wrong answers.

1/3 (.33) mark will be deducted for every incorrect attempt of 1-mark MCQs. In case of 2-mark MCQs,

the deduction will be of 2/3 (.66) mark for wrong attempt. There is no negative marking for numerical

answer type (NAT) questions.
