MEDIA RELEASE ADVI congratulates Cohda Wireless on city trial launch ADVI, as the nation’s peak industry collective, welcomes the unveiling of Cohda’s two autonomous vehicles to be trialled in Adelaide. ADVI Executive Director, Ms Rita Excell, said “This demonstrates the opportunities that can be achieved through strong collaboration between Industry and Government, and we are pleased to see Cohda Wireless, as one of our most valued program partners, make this exciting trial become a reality.” “Recognition must also go to the SA Government for its commitment in providing a $2 million grant through the Future Mobility Lab Fund for Cohda to purchase, fit out and test the two Lincolns on Adelaide’s city streets and other urban roads. There are significant economic benefits on offer and this trial provides opportunity to test the very latest technologies in a built-up urban environment,” she said. “The potential safety, economic and health benefits on offer are massive. ADVI research shows potential for $95 billion a year in economic value, and as many as 16,000 new jobs can be achieved if a proactive approach is taken to the introduction of autonomous vehicles in Australia.” “ADVI program partners are now involved in every major autonomous vehicle trialled across the nation, and our recent Economic Uplift Survey revealed that partners intend to invest up to $10m each in the autonomous vehicle industry in the next five-years. This investment commitment is exactly the reason why Australia is positioned at the front of this exciting global transport revolution.” Ms Excell said South Australia now has a reputation as an ideal test-bed for autonomous vehicle technologies, which has been strengthened by the development of legislation which provides an opportunity to conduct on-road testing in real-world conditions. advi.org.au Page 1 of 2

ADVI congratulates Cohda Wireless on city trial launch ADVI, as the nation’s peak industry collective, welcomes the unveiling of Cohda’s two autonomous vehicles to be trialled in Adelaide.

ADVI Executive Director, Ms Rita Excell, said “This demonstrates the opportunities that can be achieved through strong collaboration between Industry and Government, and we are pleased to see Cohda Wireless, as one of our most valued program partners, make this exciting trial become a reality.”

“Recognition must also go to the SA Government for its commitment in providing a $2 million grant through the Future Mobility Lab Fund for Cohda to purchase, fit out and test the two Lincolns on Adelaide’s city streets and other urban roads. There are significant economic benefits on offer and this trial provides opportunity to test the very latest technologies in a built-up urban environment,” she said.

“The potential safety, economic and health benefits on offer are massive. ADVI research shows potential for $95 billion a year in economic value, and as many as 16,000 new jobs can be achieved if a proactive approach is taken to the introduction of autonomous vehicles in Australia.”

“ADVI program partners are now involved in every major autonomous vehicle trialled across the nation, and our recent Economic Uplift Survey revealed that partners intend to invest up to $10m each in the autonomous vehicle industry in the next five-years. This investment commitment is exactly the reason why Australia is positioned at the front of this exciting global transport revolution.”

Ms Excell said South Australia now has a reputation as an ideal test-bed for autonomous vehicle technologies, which has been strengthened by the development of legislation which provides an opportunity to conduct on-road testing in real-world conditions.

“ADVI continues to work hard to attract autonomous vehicle companies to bring their technologies to Adelaide and test them in local conditions as part of efforts to ensure the safe and coordinated introduction of driverless vehicles onto our road network and transport systems,” she said.
