A Message From Our Pastor St. Louis Family,
Do you recognize that the Lord Jesus has been given full authority and power to
rule over the earth as well as heaven? Jesus was crucified for his claim to be the
Messianic King who would rule not only over his people Israel but ultimately over
all the nations as well.
When Satan tempted Jesus during his forty day fast in the wilderness, he offered
Jesus all the kingdoms of the world (Matthew 4:8-9). Jesus knew that the world
was in Satan's power. And this was precisely why Jesus came – to overthrow
Satan's power and rule over the earth. Jesus knew that the way to victory was
through submission to his Father's will and through the sacrificial offering of his life
upon the cross for the sins of the world. As Jesus was dying on the cross, he was
mocked for his claim to kingship. Nonetheless, he died not only as King of the
Jews, but as King of the nations as well. Jesus exchanged a throne of glory for a
cross of shame in order to restore us from slavery to sin, to glory with God as his
adopted sons and daughters. The question before us this day is, “Do you
recognize Jesus Christ as your King and Lord?”
Don’t forget, if you haven’t sent in your United Catholic Appeal pledge yet, to do so
as soon as possible.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving week!
Fr. Randy

Collection for the Victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan Thank you for your generous support for the victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan. The
storm struck the Philippines in the early hours of November 8 and is the strongest
tropical cyclone on record to make landfall. Catholic Relief Services workers are
reporting that more than 400,000 people have sought refuge in evacuation
centers and at least 200,000 homes have been destroyed. "As we gain increased
access to areas struck by Typhoon Haiyan, we are seeing the fuller picture of its
devastation, which is catastrophic. Images from the sky and stories on the ground
tell scenes of families pulled apart, villages and homes washed away, and lives
claimed by rushing waters. Millions of people need help."
The funds collected will be used to provide immediate help to about a half million
people in need. Some funds will also support the long-term need to rebuild many
Catholic churches and schools that were destroyed.
The total from our second collection was $5,457.00.
