NEW SERMON SERIES, STARTS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 @ 10:00 a.m.

Get to Know Your Missionaries

Relationships are an important part of life. Connections give us

the opportunity to do work that we can’t possibly do by ourselves.

For years Southern Baptists have cooperated to help take the

gospel throughout the world through the International Mission

Board as well as the North American Mission Board. Another way

that First Baptist is able to maximize its ability to reach the nations

is through partnerships with church planters and missionaries

around the world.

During Impact, there will be a number of chances to get to know

our missionaries and strengthen our partnerships. We hope that

you will take as many opportunities as possible to meet our

missionaries and learn more about their work.

Community Suppers (Thursday and Saturday night at 6:30 p.m.)

Sharing a meal with a missionary in an FBC member’s home

allows members to learn about the culture where they work, the

ministry that they do, and hear stories about what God is doing

in their location. The host home will provide the main course and

members will be asked to bring a side dish, drinks, or dessert.

Sign up for your community meal with a missionary at the back

of the Worship Center. SPACE IS LIMITED. Families are invited to

bring their children with them for the meals.

Impact Banquet (Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the Worship Center)

Enjoy a meal and hear from all of our missionaries. This will be

the one opportunity during the weekend to get an overview from

every missionary. We will have in-depth interviews with our

partner missionaries in Zambia and England. Afterwards, meet all

of the missionaries at their display tables for some one-on-one

time. The cost of the meal is $1 per person and tickets may be

purchased in the Worship Center. The deadline to purchase a

ticket is Sunday, September 20. Childcare will be provided for

children four and under following the meal.

Serve With Our Missionaries (Saturday 9 a.m. in the Rock)

On Saturday morning during Impact, we will have the opportunity

to serve alongside our missionaries. Beginning at 9:00 a.m.,

we will have groups packing meals for Stop Hunger Now and

sorting clothes at the Rock Hill Dream Closet. Children ages 3 to

3rd grade will sort and pack items for our prison packet ministry.

The B45 ministry will be putting together shoe boxes for Operation

Christmas Child. Child care will be provided for children ages 2

and under by reservation. You may sign up your entire family to

work on that Saturday.

Cookout (Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the Rock)

Join us for a casual cookout of hamburgers and hot dogs in

the Rock. The missionaries will eat with us and be available to

talk and answer questions in a relaxed setting. The cost of the

meal is $1 per person and tickets may be purchased in the

Worship Center. The deadline to purchase a ticket is Sunday,

September 20.

Evangelism 102: Writing Your Personal Testimony (8 weeks)Pastor Steve Hogg Room 308

As a follower of Jesus, you have a story that illustrates God’s work in your life. That’s true if you became a Christian at age six or age 56. It’s true if you were raised in a Christian home or never attended church until you were older. Your story includes your family and religious background. It also includes when and how you committed your life to Jesus. Just as importantly, it includes your life experiences since you became a Christian. Your story is your testimony and God can use it to help other people come to faith in Jesus. This class will help you better understand your story and write it in a way that says a lot in only a few words. At the end of the class you will be able to share your story with another person in a quick two to three minute conversation or a longer 30 minute conversation.

Disciple-Making in the Context of a Small Group Rev. Steve Polk Room 315

Wondering what God’s priority is for your life? These 8 weeks will help you understand the specific call God places on every believer. The second 5 week series will give you practical tools in how to fulfill that calling.

What Love is “The Letters of 1, 2, 3 John” by Kelly Minter (8 weeks)Monieca Hogg/Elaine Dates Room 319 Member Book $13

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us” (1 John 3:16). John defines love in the person of Jesus and calls us to love like He loved. These three letters anchors us with truth in a culture that has lost its way and gives us the ultimate gift of assurance – we can know that we know Jesus. Join us each Wednesday night as we discover

together what love truly is.

Thy Kingdom Come: End Times Prophecy Steve Claiborne Room 320

End Times Prophecy is a fascinating subject for many of us. Through extensive PowerPoint presentations and detailed illustrated charts, Thy Kingdom Come will survey the major positions of End Times Prophecy held among Christians and the differences between those views. This class will touch on subjects such as the tribulation, rapture, second coming, death, future resurrection, heaven and hell, and the millennial kingdom.

Theology in a Post-Christian World (Beginning September 9)Dr. Alan Myatt Room 210

Dr. Myatt, Gordon Conwell Seminary professor and former IMB Missionary

to Peru, brings a wealth of experience from the mission field and the classroom to our campus. These sessions will help you better wrestle with contemporary spiritual issues while maintaining firm,

Biblical theological footing.

New Path (Applying Biblical Principles to divorce and separation recovery)Charlotte Elliott Room 302/304

New Path is a small group ministry where you will find people to walk alongside you during one of life’s most difficult experiences. It is a biblically-based and is intended to help find healing for the hurt of separation and divorce. It is open to everyone who has experienced separation or divorce. New Path offers resources to help you deal

with the pain of the past and look forward to rebuilding your life.

Grief Share Rev. Jamie Burdette Room 318

Grief Share is a support group that meets weekly. You’ll find it to be a warm, caring environment and will come to see your group as an “oasis” on your long journey through grief. Sabbath was intended as a gift, and it is still a gift to us today.

If you are weary, worn out, and exhausted the concept of Sabbath

will change your life.
