Hip Hop/ Rap

The target audience for a hip hop or rap magazine could range from most ages, most likely from a middle teenager to around 30.The target audience in this genre is most likely to be male.

The artist TI on the front of this magazine is represented as a stereotypical modern gangster. His chains, bracelet, watch and hat are all typical conventions of a typical outlook on gangster.

The magazine cover uses a colour scheme of red, white and dark tones such as black and navy blue. The colours connote anger and streets which are typically paired with the gangster image.

Rock The target audience for the rock

magazine would be an older audience made clear form cover. It shows an older band with retro features such as a light blue guitar suggesting that the band are quite old school for a matching audience.

The artists on the front page represent an older audience, there gray hair and beards are all older representations. They also have a typical dress sense, including shorts, a shirt or tank top and a cap, all these features connote a typical outlook of an older, American rock star.

Pop This magazine is aiming to

target a general audience to fans of pop music, however the cover suggests that the magazine is particularly aimed at girls. Most features of the magazine are typically linked with a female audience such the pink colour scheme and flowers, the magazine also use a female figure on the cover.

The magazine cover is quite plain in comparison to others. A simple font and background; one colour and an easy to read title. There are also few sub heading with on main article aimed to catch the audiences attention most.

Classical The magazine is targeting an

older audience, this is made clear mostly by the contrasting black and white colour scheme and the religious theme. An older artist is used on the cover to represent the audience, the magazine goes in to fair detail for a cover showing that there is lots to read for an older reading who is interested in the content.

The cover shows different sub heading that are featuring inside and short passages relating to them, other small pictures are used on the cover along with a sub heading. The genre of music is showed through the male artist being represented as a conductor.

Jazz The Downbeat magazine

also suggests that the target audience is older readers. There’s an old school representation of the jazz genre, the typical trumpet instrument held by an artist wearing big glasses and an open shirt.

The magazine has a main sub heading used to attract most readers interested in the magazine. Other subtitles are all the same size and follow a consistent colour scheme of mostly blue and white.
