1. PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to provide information about the new FTFB MWR R1.1 SW release.

2. OVERVIEW

Flexi WCDMA Base Station transport sub-module FTFB has been released with RU20/WN6.0. FTFB is delivered from NSN production with 2 independent SW loads. Besides the WN6.0 SW there is the FTFB MWR SW included that runs on the MWR part of FTFB. So far this was FTFB MWR R1.0 and starting with this release it will be changed to FTFB MWR R1.1.

Reason for the change is a major defect correction of the R1.0 SW release and to provide some enhancements on top of R1.0.

The SW downgrade from R1.1 to R1.0 is not recommended due to the major bug detected recently in R1.0.

No immediate action is required but it is recommended to plan the upgrade of legacy FTFB from R1.0 to R1.1 proactively to avoid known limitations.

3. PREPARATIONS

NSN Flexi Hub Manager SW is not included in the BTS SW package stored in BTS. Instead, it is delivered separately with each SW release and should be installed on PC before going to the BTS site to commission WN6.0 BTS.

With this release NSN Flexi Hub Manager 4.1 has to be used.

Other enhancements provided with R1.1: A) SIO interface disabling based on BER; BER threshold and gating

time configurable* B) AIS to 2M interface" BER threshold & gating time configurable* C) Version information on MWR part startup print *: FTFB provides the option to disable the Ethernet interface towards a Microwave Radio in case BER reaches a configurable threshold for a configurable gating time. As a result not only a practical ring break/repair would trigger an Ethernet protection switchover but as well certain MWR link propagation degradations due to e.g. bad weather conditions.
