Why I teach:

•My philosophy: Finding ways to foster higher order thinking skills as we make school work for all kids in the most efficient manner possible.

Page 4: Reflections on iPads in the Elementary

iPads do that. No, iPads help teachers do that.

How has using the iPad changed learning for you as a 5th grader?

Page 7: Reflections on iPads in the Elementary

How has using the iPad changed learning for you as a 5th grader?~ iPads make it easier to understand

the subject we are learning about. We can remember the things we learn by connecting it to the iPad.

~ iPads are making it easier for pretty much everyone in the school. iPads make everyone want to learn.

What changes in classmate behavior have you seen now that

you are using the iPads?

Page 9: Reflections on iPads in the Elementary

What changes in classmate behavior have you seen now that

you are using the iPads?~ Kids in my class tend to listen more and try harder to get their work done

so they don’t lose iPad time.

~ Kids used to mess around a lot because they lost focus. It is hard to

lose focus now.

If an iPad was sitting next to one of our laptops, which would you

rather use? Why?

If an iPad was sitting next to one of our laptops, which would you

rather use? Why?51 out of 52 chose iPads

~ I would use an iPad because you can just touch it and not have to click

a mouse.

~ I would take the iPad. Both can go on the Internet but can you download

awesome educational apps on a laptop?

If an iPad was sitting next to one of our laptops, which would you

rather use? Why?~ I would rather use an iPad because they help me focus. There aren’t as

many “thingys” to click on like on the laptops.

~ No question an iPad because it’s a touchscreen...and you don’t even

realize how much it is helping you do better for tests.

Compare using an app like Rocket Math to a website like Jet

Ski Addition.

Page 14: Reflections on iPads in the Elementary

Compare using an app like Rocket Math to a website like Jet Ski

Addition.~ I would prefer to use an app like Rocket Math over Jet Ski Addition

because it lets us use a scribble pad which makes it so much easier.

~ Touching the screen to do math is much more natural than clicking

stuff.

What if anything would you change about how your teachers

are using the iPads?

Page 16: Reflections on iPads in the Elementary

What if anything would you change about how your teachers are using

the iPads?~ I would change how much we get

to use the iPads. We should use them all of the time.

~ Use one of those cords to show it on the projector.

~ I would be really proud.
