BELMONT — An AllAmerican concert, rooted inblues, jazz and gospel musicand sprinkled with favoriteBroadway show tunes, is set forFriday, July 3, at 7 p.m. at theBelmont Village Bandstand.
Jon Lorentz’s “Soul RevivalBand” will feature acclaimedsinger Miss Sharon “Sugar”Jones.
Lorentz leads the group on tenorsaxophone, with Andy Caballeraon keyboard and a percussionistRick Page.
Performing in Laconia this spring to a standingroomonly audience, Miss Jonesrecalled earlier visits to Irwin’s Winnipesaukee Gardens Ballroom and said hersinging blends influences of Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald andAnita Baker. Seasoned through studio recordings and performances from NewYork to Los Angeles, Miss Jones has toured internationally with organist Johnny“Hammond” Smith and saxophonist Houston Person. She is wellknown in musicand community circles as “the Pride of Portsmouth.”
The program is free and rain or shine, with Corner Meeting House as the indoorlocation on Fuller and Sargent Streets next to the Belmont Police Department.Please bring a lawn chair or blanket.
