Weekly project work

Monday English This week we are going to start our new topic ‘Superheroes’. Our first story is going to be ‘Superatato’ by Sue Hendra.

Listen to the story.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rze89HB9u8g Here are some questions you can ask your child about the story:

How would you describe Supertato?

What adjectives could you use?

How does he use his superpowers?

What do you think it means to be friendly/kind etc.?

Do you think that is friendly or unfriendly?

What would you do in that situation?

Phonics/Reading Log into Bug Club and read your new book ‘On the farm’

Now have a go at answering these questions.

1. Is this a fiction or non fiction book? How do you know? 2. Can you remember some of the animals that we saw in the book? Which one

was your favourite? Why? 3. Where does Dee sell the eggs? Have you ever been to a market? What was it

like?

Maths This week we are going to focus on positional language. Here is a positional language song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idJYhjGyWTU

Other Activity Could you grow some of your own vegetables? The tops of vegetables often want to grow again maybe you could use some of the vegetables you might eat this week! Check out how below.

The leaves of carrot are actually edible and you can regrow them by putting carrot tops in water in a well-lit room or a window sill. This is a clever way to turn your carrot scraps into a salad. Regrow sweet potato by placing it in a jar of water in direct sunlight and letting it sprout. Then plant the well-rooted sprouts in soil. You can also slice a tomato and pop it in a pot with a little soil and grow plants from the seeds.

Tuesday

Wednesday English Today we are going to make up our own superpowers!! Ms Stutchbury would like her super power to be able to fly because so she can get to different places quickly. Ms Ferguson really wants to click her fingers and be in different countries so she can explore the world and see her dog in Scotland! Ms Azimi would like to be invisible because she could be in the front row of a concert.

What is your superpower?

Can you say a sentence about your superpower? Can you explain why?

Draw a picture of yourself with your superpower and write a sentence underneath.
