The Ballast Water Management Convention

• Designated officer should ensure that ballast water management plan (BWMP) is properly implemented (reg B-1.5);

• Officers and crew shall, appropriate to their duties, be familiar with, ships’ BWMP, safety procedures for ballast water exchange, operation and maintenance of ballast water management systems, procedure for disposal of sediments, etc. (regulation B-6 and associated Guidelines)
