Our main problem we experienced throughout

filming was time. We didn’t leave ourselves with a lot of time which meant we had to rush to create a project in a short period of time meaning we didn’t leave time to reflect and look at what we could add to improve. This was an issue as it was a barrier preventing us to release the best content we possibly could.

Problems – Time Management

Another issue we had was the battery life of

the cameras in school. Whilst filming, the battery died on us several times causing us to find another battery from another camera which caused us to stop filming and slowed us down at times. We resolved this by exchanging batteries with other cameras that had full battery allowing us to film for longer.

The tripods we used were either to stiff or

unsteady, which affected our cinematography as we couldn’t film the shots as smoothly as we wanted to. When filming our establishing shot the camera was stiff so trying to tilt the camera and making it look smooth was difficult. We tackled this by retrying multiple times until we felt it was good enough.

We used Photoshop to create the logo for our

production company. We have 4 members in our group so we decided to create 4 draft logos and go with the one we thought would look best for our movie.

Software – Photoshop (CS5)

My group and I used Final Cut Pro as it was

recommended by our teachers and is a very popular editing software created by Apple. It worked very well for us as we were able to put together our cinematography and audio and sync them together with ease. It was fairly simple once we got used to it and had a wide range of effects that allowed us to improve our film.

Our school had Apple Mac computers which

was very useful as they are very fast which allowed us to use software with no issues. Without this we wouldn’t have been able to edit and create our movie.

I knew what I had to do and how much effort it would

require as I did Media at GCSE level and had created and edited a movie previously. Also, I have experience with making videos/edits/logos for YouTube so I familiarised myself with editing software and Adobe products as I used them a lot in my own time. I knew creating a movie would take a lot of work because I would have to think of a narrative, then make sure it is something an audience would actually like to watch, then record it all in a way that is appealing such as a range of shots etc and finding a suitable location and use mise-en-scene to show off my movie.

I would definitely improve cinematography

and add a wider range of shots such as close ups and low angle shots. Close ups to show the actors’ emotions clearly some low angle shots to show who is in power. I would also change the location to somewhere that isn’t our school just so it adds a more realistic essence to our movie.
