Red couch – This connotes death and blood. As Kathy the only character that sits on the

couch, this shows that she will be the one to face death.

Isolated house, two characters in there and only them. Shows the situation is going to

between them two.

Our approach to presenting conventions in our thriller was subtle and simple.

Our thriller wasn’t supposed to be harsh, it was only to build up tension

throughout, until the end of the sequence. This is one main convention of

thrillers, as it is supposed to thrill the audience.

We used a red couch, this connotes death and blood. As Kathy was the only

character that sat on the couch, it foreshadowed her death. The character

Wilfred sat on another red seat, this portrays how the blood is on his hands.

The item that was used to kill Kathy was a tablet, and it was hidden in the

drink. This connotes what type of character Wilfred is as he hides behind his

thoughts, emotions and actions. The tablet was used as a weapon, however is

was as harsh as a gun, or fire. The house was isolated, this showed a sense of

being trapped and alone. The main setting was in the house, this showed how

Wilfred was constantly in the same place in his life and was struggling.

Everything else in the house was white or grey, this represents the personality

of Wilfred. As he has a split personality, where one was innocent (white) and

the other that was his superego and had dark thoughts (grey).
