Migration to S/4HANA Finance ed 1503 Before: Multiple sources of truth

Challenges: Ø  The combined content of several

tables represents “the truth”. Reconciliation efforts are enforced by design

Ø  Need “to move” data to the appropriate table for reporting (e.g. “settlement”)

Ø  Different level of detail stored in the respective components/tables

Ø  Components are structured differently (e.g. fields/entities differ)

Ø  Different capabilities in the components (customer fields, currencies, multi-GAAP etc.)

Ø  Multiple BI extractors needed to cover the complete truth in BI.


Migration to S/4HANA Finance ed 1503 After: Universal Journal

The new architecture Ø  Motto: “Take the best of all worlds” (e.g.

ledger, market segment, coding block etc.)

Ø  Secondary cost elements are G/L accounts

Ø  One line item table with full detail for all components

Ø  Data stored only once: no reconciliation needed by architecture

Ø  Reduction of memory footprint through elimination of redundancy.

consistent) test data in development & quality systems. Ø  We had to implement +/- 15 SAP notes to solve issues during migration, testing, BW
