Preface

In order to establish a compulsory national health insurance system, Indonesia’s government launched Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional (JKN) in 2014. Within the scheme, referral system is arranged in hierarchal order in which there are primary health care facilities (public health centres, private clinics), secondary health care facilities, and tertiary health care facilities. In each level of care, physicians involved also have different level of competence, such as general practitioners for primary health care, specialists for secondary health care, and subspecialists for tertiary health care. In addition to competence, physicians have clinical privileges appointed by medical committee each hospital’s management has. In order to enrich the competence of medical professionals, The 2015 International Scientific Meeting of Haematology, Oncology, Thrombosis and Transplantation in Indonesia (which then will be addressed as ISMI-HOTTI) conducts 16 tutorials available for general practitioners, specialists, subspecialists, and other medical professionals. The tutorials consist of clinical diagnostic, clinical therapeutic, and disease-specific management skills.

The topics covered in these tutorials are from haematological, oncological, and transplantation (HOT) field such as clinical diagnostic skills of bone marrow puncture and fine needle aspiration biopsy, clinical therapeutic skills of therapeutic apheresis and handling of cytotoxic chemotherapy, and 13 topics regarding management of HOT catastrophic diseases (haemophilia, oncology, thalassemia, blood transfusion, thrombosis, and transplantation; also known as HOT plus).

Attendees will be given certificate of attendance from associations related to the topics which are The Indonesian Society of Haematology and Transfusion Medicine/ISHTM (Perhimpunan Hematologi dan Transfusi Darah Indonesia/PHTDI), The Indonesian Society of Haematology and Medical Oncology of Internal Medicine/ISHMOIM (Perhimpunan Hematologi Onkologi Medik Penyakit Dalam Indonesia/PERHOMPEDIN), and The Indonesian Society of Thrombosis Haemostasis/INASTH.

Those receiving certificate of attendance will be recommended to get certificate of competence from haematology-medical oncology division in respective hospital of origin. Following a logbook/letter stating the participants have passed certain compulsory training, the names will be submitted to Collegium of Internal Medicine in order to get certificate of competence. ISMI-HOTTI is the first of its kind to be conducted in Indonesia. We hope this event will succeed and become the pioneer of other programs alike in the future.

Preface

Several tutorials held in ISMI-HOTTI concern about oncological aspects, such as clinical skills of cytotoxic chemotherapy preparation, administration, and monitoring; current management of lymphoma and MPN; systemic therapy in lung cancer, breast cancer, and other haematological malignancies.

In conjunction with the national health insurance scheme, The Indonesian Society of Haematology and Medical Oncology of Internal Medicine/ISHMOIM (Perhimpunan Hematologi Onkologi Medik Penyakit Dalam Indonesia/PERHOMPEDIN) has conducted trainings for 110 internists in Indonesia regarding systemic chemotherapy administration to cancer patients. If the internists, who are then addressed as oncology fellows, need to go through recertification process, such event can be one of the requirements. Some of the programmes which can be the materials for recertification are symposium on cytotoxic chemotherapy for lung, breast, and haematological malignancies; and also supportive therapy for cancers (i.e. regarding nausea, vomiting, and nutrition). We’re hoping that this event can inspire other programmes alike in the future.

Preface

Within this event, materials regarding venous thromboembolism (either deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism) are going to be delivered to general practitioners, internists, and paediatricians. Thus, tutorials about venous thromboembolism will be conducted in order for the participants to get certificate of attendance. Participants may get certificate of competence in their respective origin centres of training to get credit points.
