How it Works:

AeroCoat Stainless Steel uses 316 Stainless Steel flakes which contain chromium which forms a passive film of chromium oxide, which prevents further surface corrosion by blocking oxygen diffusion to the steel surface, this is called the “Barrier Effect” and blocks corrosion from spreading into the metal’s internal structure, the “Inhibitor Effect”.

The film is impervious to water and air, protecting the metal beneath, and this film quickly reforms when the metal surface is scratched. This phenomenon is called a “Passivation Effect”, passivation occurs only if the proportion of chromium is high enough and oxygen is present.

The layer of Chromium Oxide that is formed is too thin to be visible, so the coating will remain lustrous and smooth. AeroCoat Stainless Steel insulates itself from the substrate & presents an extremely durable surface to the exterior.

2. Wipe area thoroughly with tissue or lint free cloth. Repeat if necessary.

3. Apply AeroTest Flaw Detector Penetrant. Allow 10 to 30 minutes contact time.

4. Remove Penetrant with a dry cloth.

MEK Cure TesterSoluble Iron Salts Tester.

Non-destructive inspection test designed to provide a fast and reliable method for the testing of the Solvent Resistance of Organic Coatings.

Using Solvent Rubs” and ASTM D 4752 “Measuring MEK Resistance of Ethyl Silicate (Inorganic) Zinc-Rich Primer by solvent Rub”.

This test kit can be used in the laboratory, in the field, or in the fabricating shop.

Soluble Iron SaltsFerrous Chloride and Ferrous Sulphate are found in the bottom of corrosion pits of badly corroded steel. These salts are Hy-groscopic and can cause osmotic blistering coating applied to contaminated steel.

Soluble salts must therefore be removed prior to coating a surface. This simple method and test kit identifies the presence of soluble salts on blast cleaned steel.

5. Apply a thin film of AeroTest Flaw Detector Developer. Leave for 10 minutes.

6. Large cracks will show up immediately, smaller cracks may take a few minutes to develop.
