Be GLAD®

Be GLAD® is a professional development organization in the area of language acquisition and literacy employing the Project GLAD® (Guided Language Acquisition Design) model and strategies. Be GLAD® takes teaching theory and transforms it into incredible practical teaching activities, while promoting high academic achievement and 21st century skills.

Pedagogy and Theoretical Construction 1 GRADUATE-LEVEL PDU • COURSE CODE: PDBG 9001 This course focuses on pedagogy and theoretical constructions of the Be GLAD® program. The aim of this course is to better equip teachers in the most up to date strategies in order to support all students, particularly students who struggle in school.

Classroom Observations and Analysis 1 GRADUATE-LEVEL PDU • COURSE CODE: PDBG 9002

This course provides multiple opportunities to observe, write, take notes and respond to classroom modeling of Be GLAD® language acquisition strategies in action sessions. Students enrolled in this course shall be actively involved in research, readings, application of strategies, feedback, assessment and evaluation.

This certificate is comprised of three courses designed for the Basic Be GLAD® Certificate. All courses must be taken in sequential order. In order to enroll in the next course, one must successfully complete the previous course in the sequence. Upon successful completion of all three courses, a certificate of completion will be presented by University of the Pacific.

Professional Development Units (PDUs)Post-baccalaureate professional development coursework is designed specifically for graduate level educators and administrators. Semester units (hours) of non-degree graduate level credit are awarded for successful completion of coursework. In addition, these courses will be listed on a University transcript.

Cancellation & Refund PolicyAll cancellation requests must be received in writing and refunds are subject to approval. Necessary forms can be obtained from University College.

Registration PolicyRegistrations will not be accepted if not accompained by full tuition. University College accepts payments by cash, check, money order, cashier's check, and all major credit cards. There will be a $25 charge for all declined checks.

AccreditationUniversity of the Pacific is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
