Alecso Organization

↘ Alecso is Tunis-based organization (headquartered in Tunis,Tunisia) of the Arab League, established in accordance witharticle 3 of the Arab Cultural Unity Charter by anannouncement made in Cairo, Egypt, on 25 July 1970.

↘ Alecso is a governmental organization working under theumbrella of the Arab League and it has the membership of 22Arab countries.

↘ Alecso is endeavoring to conduct and coordinate Pan-Arabprojects related to Educational, Cultural, Scientific and ICTfields and it is premised on the values of tolerance,moderation, respect of others and cultural diversity.

ALECSO is pursuing creation and adoption of OER in a two-part process :→The first part involves cooperation with regional and

international organizations, awareness-raising andcapacity-building activities, along with the developmentof manuals and guidelines concerning the use,development, and sharing of OERs.

→The second part consists in the establishment of theALECSO OER hub to allow Arab countries to share,develop and disseminate OERs, and thus to facilitateaccess to these resources and their exchange at a largescale.

- Promoting OER at Pan-Arabic level by offering a Pan-Arabian OER Infrastructure where teachers and studentsfrom Arab countries are henceforth able to add, create,share, search and retrieve suitable OER

- The proposed OER Hub is deployed internationally andintegrated into the federated OER Commonsinfrastructure where organizations aggregate and managetheir resources, collections, and groups, and shareinformation about their OER work
