PRODUCTION
LOG
SOLYANNA KEFLOM 1319
TRAILER/SOUND The types of sounds that I used
for the production entailed
different types of sound effects
(SFX) from the programme that
was already stalled on the
computer and also soundtracks
from YouTube, particularly
towards the end of my trailer. Our
original idea was to use a
soundtrack throughout, but after
we tested this we found that it
was a bit to repetitive and did not
fulfil all the typical conventions of
what makes a good urban action
trailer. To begin with we were
going to use ‘2pac-Dear Mama’
this was because lyrically the
words synchronised and really
was able to identify with our
product. Although when we came
across ‘TI-Yeah Ya Know’ we
immediately knew that this was a
better fit, both lyrically and
rhythmically so it was a no
brainer.

As we had eventually come to the
decision what soundtrack we
wanted to use we needed to
download the file, we did this using
Video Converter Ultimate this
allowed me to embed the file and
use it without the quality being poor.
Immediately we understood that we
were going to use a soundtrack
nonetheless we didn't want to use
the entire of the 4:29 minutes with
this we selected the introduction
and which went through un till the
pinnacle of the middle chorus so it
ended on impact. In the beginning
we used separate SFX so that it
would be a build up until the actual
peak of the trailer which was when
we brought in the actual backing
track consisting of TI which really
gave that dramatic effect. We used
the first couple of minutes of the
song to create the anticipated
build-up effect we were discussing.
We done this so that the scenes
we chose to position at the
end, were intense and created
suspense.
TRAILER/SOUND
The sound effects were very constructive in the
formation of our trailer as we inferred from our
investigation that all most all trailers included a
soundtrack and sound effects which were usually
used at the beginning. The sound effect we used
were mostly for our establishing shots and
important scenes such as the phone call shot.
As a group we then made the decision to implant the sound effects within
out trailer on the programme Adobe Premier Pro. We had to place the
sound effects where it says ‘Audio 1’ as this is where you can allow your
backing track/sound effects synchronise and harmonise with the rest of
your trailer.TRAILER/SOUND

ANCILLARY TASK 1 -
POSTER
CRITICISM OF POSTER
•It should have been Portrait instead of landscape
•There should have been more shots in the background
•You could have added a film strip in the background
•The colours are too dark
•Minimal writing
•More attention to detail
ANCILLARY TASK 2 / MAGAZINE
CRITSISM OF
MAGAZINE
•There should have been just one central image as a pose to
two.
•Dark colours are too overpowering.
•There is too much black space.
•Too much puffs/stories round the edge.
•Highlighted box was not needed.
•To expensive.
INSTITUTIONS IN TRAILER
At first our initial plans were for our institution to be ‘Lighthouse Productions’’. The we realised that this was already an actual
institution so we then changed it to
This is the institution we decided to carry on working on and develop. Then after we had
created another institution further down the line to finalise and seal our actual film trailer
and make it look as professional as we could.
