Plant-derived actives and extracts have a long tradition as cosmetic ingredients and are among the very first cosmetics. Lipoid Kosmetik has pioneered this field of natural cosmetic raw materials since 1972 and is today one of the leading suppliers of plant-derived actives and botanicals.

Actives Botanical actives are cosmetic formulations with defined plant-derived active ingredients. The cosmetic efficacy of our actives has been carefully proven and documented by clinical in vitro and/ or in vivo studies.

Substantiated Extracts The demand for extracts with claim substantiation is intensively growing on the cosmetic market. To meet this desire, we offer various activity-proven extracts, for which we provide phytochemical analysis and in vitro data.

Botanicals Lipoid Kosmetik offers a wide range of liquid and dry extracts. Besides classical, organic and standardized qualities as well as cosmetic milks, we also develop tailor-made systems upon request. In addition, we provide a variety of natural additives, such as Swiss milk products, honey and abrasives.

Our Full-Spectrum Extraction Technology

• Unique combination of energy-efficient, environment-friendly maceration and percolation techniques.

• Extremely mild process that allows to extract temperature-sensitive, value-giving constituents without undesired by-products such as colorings. This offers stable extracts, optimally balanced for extraction yield and formulation acceptance.

• Our manufacturing procedures are controlled under cosmetic GMP regulation ISO 22716, including very tight raw material specifications and an electronically controlled extraction system, allowing us to produce consis-tent extracts with very low batch-to-batch variation.

Our Extraction Know-How

According to our long-standing expertise with a plethora of plant extracts and actives, we are firmly convinced that valuable cosmetic effects are mainly the result of a combined action of multiple plant substances. Phospholipids are 100% natural ingredients with unique technological and physiological properties. As the main building blocks of living cell membranes they possess excellent biocompatibility and can be used for a multitude of cosmetic applications.

Depending on the content of phosphatidylcholine, LIPOID and PHOSPHOLIPON® products comply with the following INCI names:

Skin Repair & Protection >> Saturated phospholipids help to repair and restore our skin’s natural protective barrier. They mimic the lamellar structure of the extracellular matrix and form a protective layer, preventing the skin from water loss.

Skin Rejuvenation >> Unsaturated phospholipids are key molecules involved in the process of skin formation and skin renewal. As cosmetic active ingredients, they can significantly counteract the visible signs of skin-aging on a cellular level.

Emulsifier >> Phospholipids are excellent emulsifiers, especially for o/w emulsions.

Skin Texture Modifier >> Phospholipids leave the skin with a highly pleasant and smooth feeling.

Carrier for Cosmetic Actives >> Encapsulation of cosmetic ingredients with phospholipids (liposomal or as nanoemulsion) can be used to achieve a more efficient and controlled transport of biologically active substances into the skin.
