    2.0 SENSITIVITY OF RADIOGRAPHS

'K' for radio0raphy shall be /abricatedfrom material that is either radio0raphlly equivalent to or radio0raphicallyless dense than the material and>or the weld metal on which they are used.

    'K' shall be identified permanently with attached lead number atleast *>*@ hi0h. The 2umber shall indicate the 'K' thic;ness in accordance with Table 1 of !nnex 1( for hole Type 'K'. /or wire type 'K'( each set of wire 'K' shall be identified by lead letters or 2umbers( indicatin0 !ST" set material as per Table * of !nnex 1. Each 'K' of hole type

    shall be further identified by mar;in0 its metal or principal alloy composition on the surface of the 'K' in a suitable manner. Each wire type 'K' set shall also be identified by its material 0rade.

    numbers and lead letter J/@ ( when used shall not be in the area of interest( except when 0eometric confi0uration ma;es it impractical to place the 'K'( the lead numbers and the lead letter J/@ may be placed in the area of interest.

    ii= Chen weld reinforcement or protrudin0 rin0 is not removed( a shim of the same type of material and appropriate thic;ness shall be placed under the 'K'. The shim thic;ness shall be selected so that the total thic;ness bein0 Radio0raphed under the 'K' is the same as the avera0e thic;ness throu0h

    The weld. Shim shall exceed the 'K' such that atleast * sides of 'K' ima0e

    Shall be visible on the radio0raph. The shimmed 'K' shall be placed so asnot to overlap the bac;in0 strip or rin0.

The 'K' on the source side of the part bein0 radio0raphed. The bloc; dimensions shall exceed the 'K' dimensions such that the outline of atleast three sides of the 'K' ima0e shall be visible on the radio0raph.
