screened to ensure they are strictly informational in nature. Although most seminars are presented by professional financial planners, the design is non-biased and non-sales oriented.

You will not be pressured to make

a purchase or meet with sales people. We prohibit the direct distribution of flyers, pamphlets or mar-keting materials that pro-mote specific products, services or companies. We do, however, offer you the opportunity to receive an instructor’s business card or you can ask for more information should you have additional, spe-cific questions that go beyond the content or time frame of the seminar.

We hope your participation in

these programs will be enjoyable. For questions, call Leanne at 952-226-0082.

Early Childhood Screening - 952.226.0975 The early childhood years, from birth to the start of kindergarten, are an

important time of rapid learning and growth. Early Childhood Screening is a quick and simple check of how your child is doing at age three to four. The screening process identifies, at an early age, possible health or learning concerns so children can get help before starting school. All children need to be screened before enroll-ing in kindergarten. If your child is of screening age and you’d like to schedule an appointment, or if you are conscientiously opposed to screening, please contact our office. Email: [email protected]

Sleepless in America: Is this Child Misbehaving

or Missing Sleep?

Mary Sheedy Kurcinka

Mary Sheedy Kurcinka is a best-selling author and internationally recognized lecturer and parent educator. Known for her real-life examples, Mary links research-based information with typical challenging behaviors and provides practical solutions that really work. Her presentations have helped hundreds of thousands of parents and professionals to understand children better, and themselves as well.

$10/person or $15/coupleChildcare deadline: Feb. 29

Childcare fee: $5/child or $8/family

It is estimated that 60 percent of American children, from infants to teens, are wired and tired, too exhausted to behave well and unable to sleep. Could your child be one of them? In this refreshingly warm and practical guide, Mary Sheedy Kurcinka shows you how to:

• Recognize whether your child is misbehaving or missing sleep • Identify the everyday decisions that may be innocently disrupting your child’s sleep • End the bedtime and nighttime struggles and as a result stop the

“misbehaviors” during the day • Get the sleep your family needs and deserves

Does your child refuse to cooperate in the morning? Do you dread the constant bicker-ing and fights between siblings, especially late in the afternoon? Does your child get into trouble for not listening or lacking fo-cus? Is it a battle every time your child has to complete a task — any task? Is your child

“losing it” over seemingly insignificant issues, like a bad hair day? Does your child seem to “resist” sleep? Are you tired? Really tired?

Medicare - What You Really Need to KnowMedicare is a complex issue and it doesn’t appear our government will simplify anything soon. Seniors pay a much larger share of their income in out-of-pocket health costs than non-seniors do...understanding the differences in the plans offered can reduce your cost. From the SuperintendentAt Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools, we work very hard on customer service with the end goal of meeting or exceeding parent’s, student’s and the general pub-lic’s expectations.

One of our goals is to make it as easy as possible for families to find information about our schools and ultimately enroll their student into Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools.

That is why we recently implemented Central Enroll-ment in our district. This feature offers everything a parent needs to enroll their child in one of our schools.

By going to www.priorlakesavage.k12.mn.us, parents can click on “Enroll in Our Schools” under the Quick Guide. From there, parents can find a video about our E-12 education and all the forms needed to enroll their student in school, with step-by-step instructions, all in one convenient location.

Forms can be submitted electronically or dropped off at the District Services Center in Prior Lake. Information about our programs and services such as cur-riculum, special education, gifted and talented, school-age care through Kids’ Company and more can also be found on the Central Enrollment web page.

Another new feature we are now offering includes a School Finder. From our website parents can click on the School Finder link and type in their home address. The neighborhood school will be listed along with a map, school website link and transportation information.

While online, parents can also make an appointment to visit the school their child will attend. These new features have been imple-mented to make it easier on families who may be moving to the Prior Lake-Savage area and for families who already live in our district and wish to enroll their student from the comfort of their home; one-stop shopping.

While these new customer service features are designed with convenience in mind, face-to-face interaction remains very important. That is why kindergarten registration will still be conducted in our schools on February 21st.

We have made these changes to enhance our accessibility to families 24/7. We want to share our Prior Lake-Savage Area School story with our community. We have so much to offer students at Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools and we want everyone to know about it.

There is a great quote from Walt Disney, “Do what you do so well that they will want to see it again and bring their friends.” I couldn’t agree more.

Dr. Sue Ann GruverSuperintendent

will take place at all district kindergarten locations on

Please include on your registration form a phone number where you can be contacted during the day. Community Education assumes no responsibility for reaching registrants who do not provide an accessible daytime phone num-ber. When ever possible messages will be left on voicemail/answering machines. If an email is provided at time of registration, notifications will also be sent to the address provided.

Classes may be cancelled due to inclement weather or for other unavoidable reasons. These sessions are made up whenever possible. If school closes during the day due to bad weather, Community Education will cancel all activities. Listen to WCCO 830 AM radio for official school closure notices. Call 952-226-0080 for evening or weekend cancellation information.

Are You In? Yes - unless you hear from us. Community Education does not mail class confirmations. If you have an email address at the time of registration, a confirmation will be emailed to you. If you do not hear from us, assume that you are in the class and that it will be held at the time and place indicated. We will contact you by phone or mail if there is a change. Please list a daytime phone number so we can reach you if a class is cancelled. If there is a last minute change, signs are posted at each site with your class information on it such as class title, room numbers and times of classes.

PrivacyThe information requested on the registration forms will be used to verify eligibility as well as determine staff, facility and equipment needs. Your registration information may be provided to school district staff, volunteers, instructors, the school district attorney, insurer and auditor. Your email information is for in-ternal use only and will not be sold or solic-ited. Although you are not legally required to disclose this information, failure to do so may prevent you from participating in the program. Photographs or videos of classes in action may be taken and used for district publications and web pages. If you object to having your picture used, please notify the Community Education Office at 952-226-0080 each time you register.
