Chamber News

August means one last quick family vacation before school starts, shopping for school items, last time at the

lake/cabin and going back to a normal family routine. Just a friendly reminder to Shop Local Shop Often for

those items whether it is a material item or a service that you might need!

Download the ‘Prior Lake Chamber app’, it is free and found in your app store. On the Chamber app there

are jobs, events, news releases and hot deals from you our Prior Lake Chamber members. Check out the

app, this is one of your free benefits as a member to list your JOBS, EVENTS, Member to Member or Mem-

ber to Community Discounts and your news releases about yourself or business.

August for the Chamber brought in ribbon cutting, ground-breaking event, membership meeting which had

great ideas about participating with the ‘big game’, planning for Fall Community Fest, and Ladies Night Out-

Oktoberfest theme! The biggest event for the Chamber is our small town festival- Lakefront Days, at this

time I would like to personally thank the great sponsors and the volunteers! WOW, thank you for coming

out to set up, move tables, check in, pour, carry, drive, haul, monitor, tear down, clean up and be there for

support! Thank you from the Chamber! Also, due to the weather rolling in, a big shout-out to Dawn, Cas-

sie and Callie from Premiere Dance for allowing the Business Expo/Wine Tasting event to be held at their

location. Thank you!!!

Have you ever thought, that would be a great event that the Chamber could host- give Sandi a call or an

email and express your ideas to her. The mission of the Prior Lake Chamber is organized to promote, con-

nect, advocate and education for the growth of the members’ businesses.

In the coming months the Chamber will be working on 2018, I would encourage you to sign up to be an am-

bassador, board member, sit on one of the many committees that the Chamber hosts, participate weekly at

PriorNet, attend membership meetings, sponsor or be a vendor at an event. As I’ve been saying every

month- I challenge you and your business to be more active this year and focus on bringing attention to the

Chamber as a whole.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at an upcoming event!

Greetings from your Chamber Chair - Andrew Anthony

Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce

Board of Directors Application

The purpose of the Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce is to create, support and enhance a prosperous business envi-

ronment that enhances the quality of life for the community. The Chamber sponsors many events throughout the

calendar year to promote this mission, including the City’s annual community celebration of Lakefront Days, Spring

Senior Social, Community Fall Fest, monthly membership meetings, and much more. The board of directors is re-

sponsible to the Chamber membership for managing the policies and procedures of the Chamber, promoting Cham-

ber programs, encouraging new membership and retaining existing membership, organizing and soliciting volunteers

for Chamber events, and positively representing the Chamber at various public functions. The role of a Chamber

board member is vital to the success of the Chamber.

The Board consists of 11-15 members elected by the Chamber membership. Also serving as liaisons to the Chamber

are representatives from the city and school district. President Sandi Fleck is the staff member responsible for the day-

to-day operations. Board members serve 1, 2 or 3 year(s) staggered terms. The procedure for filling vacancies on the

Board consists of an application process and membership ballot voting.

Chamber Board members typically invest 5 hours per month.

Chamber Board members are expected to contribute significantly more hours during the Lakefront Days celebra-

tion.

Board members are also appointed as the designated person to appear at business openings or anniversary cele-

brations.

Board members are expected to review agenda materials and miss no more than 3 Board meetings per year.

The board members are volunteers and receive no compensation. It takes dedicated individuals to keep our busi-

ness community vital and growing!
