Spring Shows 2013As I write, we have just come to the end of a

tremendously successful pantomime season, with over 17,500 people coming through the doors in three weeks to see our production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Whilst, like all businesses, theatres have been affected by the economic downturn, the ‘feel-good’ shows such as pantos, are holding up well. We have plenty of them for you to enjoy this Spring, including visits from the Chinese State Circus, the Shaolin Warriors, Chas & Dave and That’ll Be The Day.

As always, we have a particularly strong line up of comedians, including Chris Addison, Lee Nelson and Julian Clary, and a number of first class shows for children, including Tiddler, Ben and Holly, and Milkshake Live! It’s also never too early to book for this year’s pantomime, ‘Peter Pan’!

Those of you who haven’t visited the Princes Hall in a while will have noticed the new Westgate complex that recently opened adjacent to the theatre. The seven-screen Cineworld cinema and Morrison’s supermarket opened at the end of October, with Prezzo, Harvester, Toby Carvery and Frankie & Benny’s opening just before Christmas. Mimosa, Pizza Express, Nandos and Subway are due to follow in early 2013. For a fully-let complex such as this to be opening in the current economic climate is a fantastic achievement, and a reflection of the confidence investors have in the future of Aldershot. We are certain that the Princes Hall, as well as other businesses in the town centre, can only benefit from the increase in footfall the new complex is sure to attract. We need to ensure that

the theatre, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, is placed to make the most of this exciting opportunity.

A few months ago we launched the theatre’s new website which, as well as having a fresh new look, gave customers the ability to book specific seats for shows, rather than simply being allocated the ‘best available’. It has proved a tremendous success, with the number of visits to the site shooting up, and almost 40% of customers now booking their seats online. Booking tickets online is an extremely simple process, so why not give it a go? At the very least, make sure you let our Box Office staff know your email address the next time you are booking a ticket, and you will be kept informed of new shows, as and when they go on sale.

These welcome messages provide a good platform for me to publicly acknowledge the continued hard work of the theatre staff. We have an exceptional team here, and I am very proud to work with them.

Finally, if you have any feedback about our service, good or bad, then please let me know on my direct line 01252 398570.

Making its first appearance in Aldershot is one of the country’s most popular nostalgia

shows which has been wowing audiences for the past 6 years.

Step back in time with Neil Sands and his wonderful West End

cast as they travel down memory lane in an afternoon filled with magical musical memories from the fabulous 40’s with the likes of Vera Lynn and The Andrews Sisters, in to the 50’s and the golden days of rock & roll, swinging through the 60’s with The Beatles,

Dusty and many more and finally into the 70’s with Abba.

Blasting out tracks from GnR to Def Leppard, Queen to

Alice Cooper, and Poison to the more classy Aerosmith, Tap That will show you just how far you can go with a

guitar and a good old pair of curling tongs.

Delivering a tribute to the REAL glam rock

movement, these 5 wannabe rock gods will take you back to the

spandex loving, thrust shoving, hair defining

era of the 80’s.

Some say that real glam rock died at the hands of the synthesiser. Others

say it died in a tragic accident involving an over heated hair dryer and various flammable hair products. We say that

glam rock never died...and NEVER will!
