Prevention & Management of Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office A Hands-on Approach With High-Fidelity Simulators (Mannequins) Mai-Ly Duong, DMD Project Director ATSU, Asst. Director ATSU, Adjunct Faculty Given that 1 in 5 dental patients are classified as medically complex, there is a high need for dental health professionals to be comfortable and competent to treat medical emergencies that occur in the dental office effectively and efficiently. Through the support of a grant funded by the Dental Trade Alliance Foundation, you are invited to be part of an innovative research project that involves learning how to manage medical emergencies that occur in the dental office through the use of high-fidelity mannequins AT NO CHARGE! These mannequins breathe, blink, talk, sweat and simulate many real-life emergencies like cardiac issues and seizures. We need your help! There’s no charge to participate & you will receive Dental CEU credit! Course Objectives: • Discuss the value of patient interviewing to prevent medical emergencies • Identify strategies to manage common medical emergencies in the dental office • Teach these strategies to their colleagues at their clinic/office To Register: https://www.atsu.edu/simman Since this is a funded research project, we need participants to attend the “morning session only” from 8am to 12pm only (4CEU) and others to attend the course all day from 8am to 5pm (8CEU). Participants of the “morning session only” will have the opportunity to attend the afternoon hands-on session being offered at a later date to receive the remaining 4 CEU. Breakfast & Lunch will be provided for all participants, regardless of attending morning only or all day. Participants will be asked to complete research questionnaires as requirements by the grant.
