Digital Technology DefinitionThe term Digital Technologies is used to describe the u se of digital resources to effectively find, analyse, create, communicate, and use information in a digital context. This encompasses the use of web 2.0 tools, digital media tools, programming tools and software applications.

Digital Technology Quotes

“Many people see technology as the problem behind the so-called digital divide. Others see it as the solution. Technology is neither. It must operate in conjunction with business, economic, political and social system."Carly Fiorina

"The number one benefit of information technology is that it empowers people to do what they want to do. It lets people be creative. It lets people be productive. It lets people learn things they didn't think they could learn before, and so in a sense it is all about potential.”Steve Ballmer

How did I use Digital technology?

When creating my AS Coursework, digital technology played a key part within the process and paramount to make my magazine as successful as possible and

hit the high grades. I uses many forms of digital technology from digital cameras such as the cannon

550D which aided me in taking professional pictures to using Photoshop and InDesign which

is used within industry today.

The Programs of Photoshop at the beginning of the course was familiar due to my GSCE in media. This

meant I was able to understand the basic tools and edits in order to have the picture I wanted for my

front cover. Furthermore, I created my prelim task using Photoshop; this was due to me being unaware

how to navigate around InDesign.

When looking at my progress though the “ year course I have been able to highlight I am aware of how to use

digital technology successfully such as InDesign when needing to make my A2 course work

magazine. An example of this when considering my magazine and prelim task would be the range

and quality of images I was able to produce. Considering this factor as a “meaningful moment”

when making my magazine I feel the front

Other Methods in which I used Digital technology…

- Blogger- Prezi - Become more confident using familiar

technology such as; Cannon 550D

page image of my female model has

transformed dramatically taking into account

conventions of the genre soft rock

magazines and conveying this in the images

and text created. The housing style and

reasoning behind my text was stronger, being

able to make more complex pieces of work

and have a higher more professional standard

which was my aim.

Skills Developed…I have develop skills such as precision to make sure my work is within boards and conventions of the music magazine industry to make my magazine have little flaws.

Finally I have also developed my skills of editing and colour correction and contrast at using the Photoshop tools becoming more confident and trying new ways to make my images stand out against others.

Finally…The skill I feel I have most improved and developed when considering my music magazine and prelim task would be the removal of backgrounds. This is due to when considering my prelim task my confidence in removing background was little due to the rough edges and quality being low. Hence when preserving and practicing for my music magazine I have been able to remove backgrounds and keep the quality of the image.

Creativity DefinitionThe use of imagination or original ideas to create something; inventiveness.

Creativity Quotes “Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will” George Bernard Shaw

“Creativity is more than just being different. Anybody can plan weird; that’s easy. What’s hard is to be as simple as Bach. Making the simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity” Charles Mingus

Creativity…Questions I asked myself when

creating the magazine…

Page 7: Presentation

Relating to my Course Work…

Examples…- Using colour filters and overlays on images within the

article. Allowing the page to bring other colours into the magazine and stand out, breaking the convention

of typical serious images in rock magazines that are typically dark.

- Boards around the magazine, to make the magazine seem neat yet edgy

- Colour schemes, to keep a housing style and consistency yet being creative with the fonts for the

front cover and pull quotes.

Research and PlanningDefinitions Research: The systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions.Planning: A detailed proposal for doing or achieving something. An intention or decision about what one is going to do in the future.

Planning Quote “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” Benjamin Franklin

“It was amazing how you could get so far from where you'd planned, and yet find it was exactly were you needed to be.” Sarah Dessen

Research Quotes “If we knew what we were doing, it would not be called research would it?”Albert Einstein

“Research is four things: brains with which to think, eyes with which to see, machines with which to measure and, fourth, money.”Albert Szent-Gyorgyi

Planning and Research

How did I use Research in my AS

Course work ?

Research and planning was a key part in my music magazine but not so ,much in the prelim task.

This meant when comparing work the second piece was better due to the time and

detail put into the creation of the magazine. This meant it seemed more successful and

professional as it followed conventions I had researched

and the genre also.

Skills Developed…- Selection of relevant information, being able to filter information that would aid me in the understanding of the typical consumer of my magazine and what they want which made the magazine

more successful. - To make sure my planning was concise

and easy to read and understand, aided me in making the magazine. I could keep relating back to the plan and research.- Detail – Select relevant information but

also research key points and plan in detail to have a full understanding of

the genre, target audience and task in general.
