God of infinite Mercy,

you sent your Risen Son

to encounter the disciples on the way to Emmaus.

Grant us today a missionary spirit

and send us forth to encounter

our sisters and brothers:

to walk with them in friendship,

to listen to their hopes and dreams

with compassion,

and to proclaim your Word with courage,

so that they might come to know you once again

in the breaking of the Bread.

Make us all missionary disciples, and stay with us always,

as we seek to share the joy of the Gospel

with people of all generations,

from every race, language, culture, and nation.

We ask you this with burning hearts,

filled with the Holy Spirit,

in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

and through the loving intercession of

our Blessed Mother Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe,

Star of the New Evangelization in the Americas. Amen.

Dios de infinita misericordia,

Tù que enviaste a tu Hijo resucitado

a salir al encuentro de los discípulos de Emaús,

concédenos hoy un espíritu misionero

y envíanos a salir al encuentro

de nuestras hermanas y hermanos:

a caminar junto a ellos en amistad,

a escuchar sus tristezas y alegrías

para que puedan reconocerte de nuevo

Envíanos a todos como discípulos misioneros,

En este gran camino de testimonio, recordamos a todos los clérigos, vicarios, directores y laicos que han enfocado su ministerio a la comunidad hispana, continuando la tarea de evangelizar y servir a todos los hispanos de la comunidad hispana del Estado de Nueva York. Nos acompañaron por muchos años, a quien le agradecemos. Los llevamos siempre con muchos agradecimientos en nuestros corazones y en nuestras oraciones. Todos ellos son parte de nuestra historia evangelizadora, parte de nuestra memoria histórica, son un eslabón, como lo somos nosotros, que a ejemplo de testimonios, seguimos trabajando en virtud del Reino de Justicia y de Paz, que debe fomentarse constantemente. In this great journey of witness, we remember all the clergy, vicars, directors, and laity who have ministered to the Hispanic Community, continuing the task of evangelizing and serving all Hispanics of the State of New York. They have accompanied us for many years, and for this we thank them and we are grateful. We will always carry them in our hearts and in our prayers. They are part of our evangelizing history, part of our historical memory, an example of testimonies, and we will continue to work in virtue of the Kingdom of Justice and Peace, which must be constantly encouraged. God bless all those who have, over the years, assisted and served in favor of Hispanic Ministry in the State of New York.

History of the Encuentros

I Encuentro (1972) permitió a los Hispanos/Latinos obtener visibilidad y expresar nuestras necesidades, aspiraciones y contribuciones como personas bautizadas y miembros de la Iglesia en los Estados Unidos. (Allowing Hispanics/Latinos to gain visibility and to express our needs, aspirations, and contributions as baptized persons and members of the Church in the United States.) I Encuentro (1972) II Encuentro (1977) Los Hispanos/Latinos fueron identificados como una comunidad de Hispanos Católicos que es diversa, pero unificada por una fe, historia, cultura e idioma comunes.
