What is Nanomaterials?

Nanomaterials are the materials containing nanocrystals, i.e. their grain size is in the 1 to 100 nm range.

It plays a vital role in the recently developed science and technology.

It may be metals, alloys, intermetalics or ceramics.

Properties of Nanomaterials The nanomaterials have high strength,

hardness, formability and toughness. These materials exhibit super plasticity

even at lower temperatures. Size of the grains controls the

mechanical, electrical, optical, chemical and magnetic properties.

The melting point of namomaterials gets reduced on reducing the grain size.

The magnetization and coercivity are higher.

Applications of Nanomaterials

Nanomaterials are used for the fabrication of single processing elements such as filters, delay lines, switches, etc.

These materials are used to make semiconductor lasers, nanomaterials, memory device such as recording heads and magnetic storage devices etc.

Hydrogen-based sensors made by nanomaterials are used in power generation.

Advantages of Nanomaterials

Nanomaterial can actually revolutionize a lot of electronic products, procedures, and applications.

The areas that benefit from the continued development of nanomaterials when it comes to electronic products include nano transistors, nano diodes, OLED, plasma displays, quantum computers, and many more.

Disadvantages of Nanomaterial

Presently, nanomaterial is very expensive and developing it can cost you a lot of money. It is also pretty difficult to manufacture, which is probably why products made with nanomaterials are more expensive.

Since these particles are very small, problems can actually arise from the inhalation of these minute particles, much like the problems a person gets from inhaling minute asbestos particles
