Something To Think About Randy Gilchrist, Executive Director So many issues to deal with as the church seeks to minister to those in their community. Recently, the association sponsored a Church Safety and Security (CSS) Conference that dealt with more than just “active shooter”. The CSS

conference also dealt with Cyber security and other issues. Additionally, churches’ liability and protecting the integrity

of the church was a topic of discussion. The office has available copies of the printed handouts for those interested.

Don’t forget that October 16 is the date set for the San Jacinto Baptist Association Annual Meeting. At this point we are unsure as to location due to Dell Dale Avenue Baptist Church having lightning strike their steeple and causing damage to their auditorium. This year’s program will focus on the theme “One in Christ - United in Prayer”. During the pre-dinner session we will focus on the churches and all believers being One in Christ and Mission. The after dinner session will focus on our being United in Prayer. During the evening session Ted Elmore will be conducting a “Prayer Seminar” for the entire association. I want to encourage our churches to help us promote this to all members and encourage them to attend. Prayer offered up by a humbled people, to a Holy God, united together for His purpose, will bring a renewing among us. Plan to be a part of this year’s Annual Meeting on October 16.

Messengers to the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention will gather at Second Baptist Church – North Campus 22770 US 59, Kingwood, TX on Nov. 12 & 13 to conduct the convention's twenty-first Annual Meeting. #SBTCAM18

For the Common Good Carey. D. Froelich, Associate Director for Church Enrichment ESV Proverbs 23:12 Apply your heart to instruction and your ear to words of knowledge. The annual Back-to-School emphasis in

many churches is often marked by a renewed focus on the discipleship task common to all of us. Children promote—they move into new, age/grade appropriate classes—and adults are given new opportunities for spiritual growth through a variety of learning opportunities. SJBA recently secured access to a wonderful collection of resources to aid your church in providing seminars and small group sessions that are aimed at helping members grow in the grace of the Lord. Sampson Resources has video-driven studies featuring dozens of the best-known teachers, pastors, and church leaders in subjects such as Leadership, Marriage and Parenting, Men’s and Women’s Ministry, Sunday School, Bible Study, Small Group, Discipleship Training, and Deacon Ministry. Through your membership in our association, you now have free access to all of the video studies and will receive a discounted price for all of the printed support resources. Sampson has assigned an order-code to each church which can be identified in the SJBA office. Go to www.sampsonresources.com to review the entire stock of materials.

Our annual Fall BBQ at Lake Tomahawk sponsored by the SJBA SeniorLife Ministry is October 4. This year’s program will feature Glenn Sharp and Friends, and it promises to be a wonderful opportunity to explore the beautiful camp that God has used to touch thousands of people. Glenn and his co-workers are actively involved in Houston-area churches, and they serve our community in many ways through their musical and entertainment gifts. Make your plans to join us for this wonderful event.
