BuildingsThe Bank of America Plaza which is a skyscraper situated in Atlanta , Georgia. The

building itself is referred to as being postmodern because it has quite a few similar characteristics to the Messeturm which was built from 188-1990 In Frankfurt Germany whilst the Bank of America Plaza was built from 1991-1992. The Messeturm is seen as being postmodern due to the fact that the structure of the building consists of various geometric shapes which helps to produce a pencil shaped building which is unconventional, unique . Whilst on the other hand what makes The Bank of America postmodern is that it was designed in a modern Art Deco style meaning its shaped in a modern style and is glamorous which is evident in The Bank of America Plaza the spire is made of 23 karat gold leaf which shines at night which make s a statement differentiates this building from others around it.

Music Mf Doom is a hip hop artist who’s material consists of samples sections from

Doctor Doom television shows and adds them to either the opening or closing of his tracks e.g. ‘Beef Rapp’ a song off of an lp called ‘mm food’ this song in particular he samples a part of an episode from Doctor Doom the cartoon show its tweaked and runs through the whole song .

UGK sample an Isley brothers song called ’ Between the sheets’ in their song called ‘Crampin’ my style’

Which makes both of these examples postmodern is that both sets of artists are borrowing material which dates decades prior to their work and add the dated music into their own work.

Cinema The Matrix trilogy is an example of a postmodern film because it’s intertextual

it references philosophical theories such as ‘Descartes evil demon’ as well as religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism, It’s also fair to say that the film also blurs the distinction between fiction and reality the characters are capable of doing things that in reality are impossible.

Blade Runner is also an example of a postmodern film as it’s also intertextualas the film is based on the book ‘Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheeps’,thefilm is set in the future and the use of advanced technology also shows how the film is unconventional.

Television Programmes Family Guy is an example of postmodern tv because it references other shows

such as The Simpsons and Futurama with irony as well as blurring the distinction between fiction and reality e.g. Bryan the dog is able to talk and engage with humans as if he is one and Stewie who is a baby is able to communicate well ahead of his years.

The Cleveland show is postmodern because its intertextual meaning it references similar themes as shows such as South Park, Family Guy etc e.g. Dysfunctional families and ironic and stereotypical statements.

What makes this Specsavers advert postmodern is that it’s in black white which makes it intertextual,e.g the music used in the advert is old and is also in another language. I’d also say that it's ironic the farmer sending the dog off with the sheep is done deliberately to identify that he’s done something wrong.

This advert is postmodern as it’s intertextual throughout, the music is from Starwars and the child who is dressed as Darth Vader feels as though he ‘has the force’. The advert is ironic as the child who thinks he has telekinesis isn’t able to move anything these actions are humorous.
