Information boxAvailable for hold request by all registered borrowers. Placing a hold on an item sent to cataloguing means that it receives priority treatment.

Tip signItems on order may take up to six months to reach the Library.

How do I place a request?

Location tab in Search and help box containing the library phone number and a link to ask Monash.

Information boxOnce you’ve found the item sign in to Search. Then select the Get It tab and click on the Request link.

Why can’t I place a hold request?

How long will it take for my request to arrive?

An information box listing the item request times. And a help box containing the library phone number and a link to ask Monash.

Items available on the shelf at another branch library. Generally 2 to 3 working days. Items from the offsite Store. May take up to 1 week to arrive.

Items on loan. Once returned these will be delivered to your nominated pickup location as soon as possible.

Items on order. The time varies but it may take up to 6 months for an item to be delivered to the Library check with Library staff.

Items being processed or catalogued. Once a hold is placed these are processed as quickly as possible.

How will I know when my request is available?

Search with My Loans circled and help box containing the library phone number and a link to ask Monash.

Monash staff. A notice will be sent to your Monash email.

Monash students. A notice will be sent to your Monash student email.

Visitors including CAVAL. A notice will be sent to the email address you provided when you joined the Library.

All borrowers can check My Loans in Search.





Where do I collect my request?

A text box which contains maps of each libraries hold shelf. There is an image of a clock with a link to the libraries opening hour’s page. And a help box with the libraries phone number and a link to ask Monash.

Information boxAll libraries have open hold shelves where you can collect your hold and borrow at a Loans terminal. At some libraries, kits, DVDs, videos and Document Delivery items are held at a service point Check location of the hold shelves at your pickup location.





How to find your item on the holds shelf

Items on the holds shelf are held in alphabetical order under your family name.




How long will you keep my request on the hold shelf?

Information boxYour hold will be available for pickup for 7 days.

Sign tipPlease collect your hold as soon as possible there may be others waiting for it.





Why was my request cancelled?

Requests are generally cancelled because:The hold wasn’t collected within seven days.The hold request expired before the item became available.

If the item is on the shelf at your pickup location you are expected to retrieve it yourself.

Please contact Library staff for more information.





Why is my request taking so long?
