in Animal Husbandry.
The Kamdhenu University is working for welfare of all living beings through its
multi-faceted academic, research and extension education programme with
focus on animals and animal products to uplift the life standards of farmers and
people at large. To achieve this, animal health services would be greatly increased
by our students even at village level small-scale producers.
The institute owns highly qualified, experienced and trained faculty along with the

It is matter of pride that the third batch of Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry,
Kamdhenu University, Himmatnagar students will be stepping out from its portal
very soon for shaping their career.
Considering the huge demand of the skilled human resource in Animal
Husbandry sector, Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry offer 3 year Diploma course
in Animal Husbandry. The dedicated and experienced faculties have tried to
expand the horizon of students by imparting the trainings and have groomed
young minds, nurturing them with utmost care to excel in the arena of livestock
and poultry development.
Our teaching pedagogy not only includes the theoretical and practical farm
training, but also encompasses the presentations, active participation in
discussions, sports and cultural activities, which has helped them in acquiring
skills for their holistic development.
I am sure that as potential job provider, you will find these students very
competent and will visit us again, year after year for the welfare of the livestocks

organization on behalf of the staff and students of Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry,
Himmatnagar to participate in the campus recruitment process as per your
expectations for the current year (2015-16).
The time has come again for us to expose the best minds we have, to the outer world
that waits to test and absorb the talent radiating from every individual.
The institute offers a full time residential education programme of "Diploma in
Animal Husbandry" for which the basic qualification for the admission is 10th
standards.The duration of the course is three years which includes a 6 month
intensive farm practice training at different premier institutes in Gujarat. During the
course work of 5 semesters the students are enriched with the basic knowledge of 18
different subjects of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry.
We are not only concentrating on knowledge development, but also on personal
and social development. We try to instill values through courses, events and the
environment we create.
With this brief background, I am furnishing in the pages to follow all pertinent
information about us. At this juncture, I take the opportunity to congratulate Dr.
Paresh P. Makwana (Placement Co-ordinator) to take the challenge for preparing this
placement brochure with the help of staff of Polytechnic and complete this endeavor

Kamdhenu University
amdhenu University has been established by the Government of Gujarat vide Gujarat Act No.9
of 2009 which is referred to as "the Kamdhenu University Act, 2009". The Act was assented to by thKHon'ble Governor of Gujarat on 7 July, 2009.
The University is established and incorporated by the State Government as teaching and affiliated
University for the development of Veterinary and Animal Sciences and for furthering the advancement
of learning, conducting of research and dissemination of findings of research and other technical
information in Veterinary and Animal Sciences including Dairy, Fisheries and allied sciences in the State
of Gujarat.
A peep in the past
Idea of a Veterinary and Dairy University in Gujarat was first mooted in 1984 by late Dr. Varghese Kurien,
Father of White Revolution in the country. He proposed a University of Dairy and Animal Science
(UDAS), but before it takes a shape, Dr. Kurien who was the Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat Agricultural
University resigned from the post. Again a proposal was floated by Government of Gujarat to
established Veterinary University in 1996-97 and an ordinance was also promulgated. This ordinance
died without any action. Thereafter in 2009, with the blessings of Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Narendra
Modi the Kamdhenu University Act was passed by the State Legislative Assembly. Thus, a new era of
research and education in veterinary and allied sciences including dairy and fisheries has begin.

Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry, Mehtapura, Himmatnagar was established under stKamdhenu University on 1 August, 2011. This premier institute is the First Polytechnic of its
own kind in Gujarat and was established with the aim to prepare livestock inspectors to
provide the support to the field veterinarians as well as to provide primary veterinary services
to the animal owners in remote villages. Later the other Agricultural Universities of Gujarat also
started the Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry on the lines of Kamdhenu University.
The institute offers a full time residential education programme of "Diploma in Animal thHusbandry" for which the basic qualification for the admission is 10 standard. The institute
presently provides a well managed hostel facility for boys only along with a student bus facility
for transport. The duration of the course is three year which includes a six month intensive
farm practice training at different premier institutes in Gujarat. During the course work of five
semesters, the students are enriched with the basic knowledge of 18 different subjects of
Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry in theory and practical.
Six months farm practice training includes working on different cattle, buffalo and goat farms
and veterinary dispensaries with 15 days educational tour within the state. The training
provides good practical hands and also boosts confidence level of the students in the areas of
animal nutrition, management of animals and fodder farm, vaccination, artificial insemination
and first aid techniques in veterinary practice.
After successful completion of the course work and farm practice training, the students are
conferred the Diploma in Animal Husbandry. The students excelling in the course work and
training program are rewarded with different awards and certificates.
The institute is well equipped with laboratories and computer laboratory facilities for hands on
training to the students along with a full-fledged library.
The institute owns highly qualified, experienced and trained faculty along with the supporting
staff to cater the need of students.
The institute provides all the necessary infrastructure facilities for the extracurricular activities
of the students admitted to the diploma course.
