The Pittsburgh Riverhounds (3-3-2) picked up their second straight win, shutting out Toronto FC II (1-3-3), 1-0, at Highmark Stadium The victory marked the first time since August 2015 that Pittsburgh has won back-to-back matches, while earning two straight clean sheets for the first time since July 2015. Picking up the lone tally of the game was Victor Souto in the 22nd minute – the first goal of his professional career. This will be the first meeting between the two clubs, as Fury FC made the jump from the NASL prior to the 2017 season. Several streaks are on the line for the Hounds this Saturday. Along with the potential for a three-game winning streak for the first time since 2013, Pittsburgh is running back-to-back clean sheets as well, with its last seven matches being decided by a one goal or less. Additionally, the club has scored in six straight - an encouraging note considering they were shut out 11 times in 2016. Fury FC has gotten off to a middling start this season, netting points in four of their six matches, but currently sitting 12th in the East. The club has struggled on the offensive end, being shut out in three matches so far, though they also hold three clean sheets as well, including most recently against second-place Tampa Bay. Despite the low ranking, Pittsburgh would be wise to mitigate the number of shots allowed as best as possible with Ottawa averaging a robust 12 per game. So far this season, the Hounds have held serve, being outshot only once - down a man in a 1-0 defeat to FC Cincinnati. The club has also recorded less than 10 shots once this season, also a loss, and is 1-1-1 when holding the shots advantage for the match. Rookie midfielder Victor Souto continued his dazzling start to the season, netting his first career professional goal and the eventual game-winner vs. Toronto FC II. His efforts earned him both Team of the Week and Goal of the Week honors. The Akron product has been a workhorse, starting in 7 of 8 matches, ranking third in minutes (675) and leading the club in tackles (29) and passes (460) - the latter at nearly 160 more than second-place Jack Thompson at 302. Another newcomer making stellar contributions has been goalkeeper Trey Mitchell. Helped by a defense that has allowed only five shots on goal in the past two matches, Mitchell is the first goalkeeper since Calle Brown in 2015 to record back-to-back clean sheets. If he can repeat his efforts on Saturday, Mitchell will help the Hounds to three-straight shutouts for the first time since 2011. The country of Canada has been kind to the Hounds since 2011, as the club has notched a record of 8-2-2 against foes north of the border. Though, it must be noted, both losses have come on the road. 2017 SCHEDULE & RECORD Overall Record: 3-3-2 Home: 2-2-1 • Away: 1-1-1 • Non-League Play: 0-0-0 MARCH Sat. 25 NEW YORK RED BULLS II YouTube T, 3-3 APRIL Sat. 1 FC CINCINNATI YouTube L, 0-1 Sat. 8 @Charleston Battery YouTube W, 2-1 Wed. 12 SAINT LOUIS FC YouTube L, 1-2 Sat. 15 @Charlotte Independence YouTube T, 1-1 Sat. 22 @Richmond Kickers YouTube L, 1-2 Sat. 29 HARRISBURG CITY ISLANDERS YouTube W, 1-0 MAY Wed. 3 TORONTO FC II ESPN3 W, 1-0 Sat. 13 @Ottawa Fury FC YouTube 2 pm Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round Two Sat. 17 @TBD N/A TBD Sat. 20 LOUISVILLE CITY FC YouTube 7 pm Wed. 24 @Harrisburg City Islanders YouTube 6:30 pm JUNE Sat. 3 ORLANDO CITY B YouTube 7 pm Sat. 10 @Toronto FC II YouTube 7:30 pm Sat. 17 @Louisville City FC YouTube 7:30 pm Thur. 22 TAMPA BAY ROWDIES YouTube 7 pm JULY Tue. 4 CHARLOTTE INDEPENDENCE YouTube 7 pm Sat. 8 @Orlando City B YouTube 7:30 pm Sat. 15 @Bethlehem Steel FC YouTube 5 pm Sat. 22 @Rochester Rhinos YouTube 6:05 pm Wed. 26 CHARLESTON BATTERY YouTube 7 pm Sat. 29 @Tampa Bay Rowdies YouTube 7:30 pm AUGUST Sat. 5 RICHMOND KICKERS YouTube 7 pm Sat. 12 @Harrisburg City Islanders YouTube 7 pm Sat. 19 @Saint Louis FC YouTube 8:30 pm Sat. 26 BETHLEHEM STEEL FC YouTube 7 pm SEPTEMBER Sat. 2 @FC Cincinnati YouTube 4 pm Sat. 9 LOUISVILLE CITY FC YouTube 7 pm Sat. 16 ROCHESTER RHINOS YouTube 7 pm Sun. 24 @Bethlehem Steel FC YouTube 3 pm Sat. 30 @New York Red Bulls II YouTube 4 pm OCTOBER Sat. 7 ROCHESTER RHINOS YouTube 7 pm Sat. 14 OTTAWA FURY FC YouTube 7 pm 2017 Pittsburgh Riverhounds > riverhounds.com > @PghRiverhounds > #OTTvPGH LAST TIME OUT Last Game Summary Hounds, 1, Toronto FC II, 0 Game 8 Highmark Stadium May 3, 2017 INDIVIDUAL Category Riverhounds Opponent Points 4 - Corey Hertzog vs. New York (3/25) 4 - Vincent Bezecourt, New York (3/25) Goals 2 - Corey Hertzog vs. New York (3/25) 2 - Vincent Bezecourt, New York (3/25) Assists 1 - six tied 2 - Wes Charpie, Saint Louis (4/12) Shots 6 - Corey Hertzog vs. New York (3/25) 4 - Vincent Bezecourt, New York (3/25) 4 - Florian Valot, New York (3/25) SOG 4 - Corey Hertzog vs. New York (3/25) 3 - Fred Owusu Sekyere, Richmond (4/22) 3 - Florian Valot, New York (3/25) Saves 4 - Keasel Broome vs. New York (3/25) 4 - Matt Turner, Richmond (4/22) 4 - Mitch Hildebrandt, Cincinnati (4/1) TEAM Hounds High Hounds Low Category Opp High Opp Low 8 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - vs. Cincinnati (4/1) Points 8 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - two times 3 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - vs. Cincinnati (4/1) Goals 3 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - two times 2 - twice 0 - three times Assists 2 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - three times 14 - vs. New York (3/25) 9 - vs. Saint Louis (4/12) Shots 16 - vs. Cincinnati (4/1) 8 - at Richmond (4/22) 6 - vs. New York (3/25) 3 - four times SOG 7 - vs. New York (3/25) 2 - two times 4 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - vs. Saint Louis (4/12) Saves 4 - twice 2 - five times 14 - at Charleston (4/8) 9 - twice Fouls 17 - twice 6 - at Richmond (4/22) SUPERLATIVES CLUB NOTABLES All-Time Leading Goal Scorer ......................................................................
