The Pittsburgh Riverhounds (4-3-2) pushed their winning streak to three games, using a second-half tally by Corey Hertzog to shut out Ottawa Fury FC (1-3-3), 1-0, at TD Place Stadium. The victory marked not only the third straight win for the Hounds, but also a third straight clean sheet – both firsts for the club since 2013 and 2011, respectively. Hertzog’s tally meanwhile came in the 52nd minute, moving his team-leading total to five on the season. Pittsburgh has plenty to build upon though, as the club hopes to add to its three-game winning streak in league play in this weekend’s tilt against Louisville City FC (3-1-3). Currently sitting third in the Eastern Conference, the Hounds’ start to the 2017 campaign is unprecedented for the franchise, as they enter this weekend with a chance to capture a four- game winning streak for the first time since 2013. Additionally, their three-match shutout streak is the longest since 2011 and four would become the longest in franchise history since the current version of the USL began play in 2011. Club history is both a possibility on a team level, as well as individually. For Mike Green, his next appearance with the Hounds will put him into a tie for third all-time with Sterling Flunder at 123. In scoring, Kevin Kerr and Corey Hertzog both have the opportunity to move up to sixth and seventh all-time with their next goals, respectively. Louisville enters Saturday’s match fourth in the East, but also coming off a 9-0 victory over Tartan Devils FC at Highmark Stadium in the Open Cup. The club has always provided a tough test for Pittsburgh, as the Hounds are 1-2-2 all-time head-to-head and have not won a match since Aug. 29, 2015. The Hounds have been involved in some tightly contested matches to say the least, as every game this season has been decided by a goal or less - a stretch of nine-straight. Such a stretch has happened only once since 2011, the 2013 season that saw the club finish seventh en route to a playoff berth. Strong defensive play has quickly vaulted two players into league prominence in goalkeeper Trey Mitchell and defender Joe Greenspan. For Mitchell, the former MLS pool keeper is tied for the league-lead in clean sheets and has condeded less goals (5) than number of starts on the season (7). Greenspan, meanwhile, earned Team of the Week honors for a second time this month after the win at Ottawa and ranks in the top- five on the club in blocks, clearances, interceptions and tackles since being received on loan in April. Pittsburgh hopes to have history repeat itself in 2017, as the club has reached the playoffs each of the past two seasons following no postseason play. Additionally, the club will look to eclipse .500 in league play at Highmark Stadium (23-23-16) after the match Saturday. 2017 SCHEDULE & RECORD League Record: 4-3-2 Home: 2-2-1 • Away: 2-1-1 • Non-League Play: 0-1-0 MARCH Sat. 25 NEW YORK RED BULLS II YouTube T, 3-3 APRIL Sat. 1 FC CINCINNATI YouTube L, 0-1 Sat. 8 @Charleston Battery YouTube W, 2-1 Wed. 12 SAINT LOUIS FC YouTube L, 1-2 Sat. 15 @Charlotte Independence YouTube T, 1-1 Sat. 22 @Richmond Kickers YouTube L, 1-2 Sat. 29 HARRISBURG CITY ISLANDERS YouTube W, 1-0 MAY Wed. 3 TORONTO FC II ESPN3 W, 1-0 Sat. 13 @Ottawa Fury FC YouTube W, 1-0 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round Two Sat. 17 @Chicago FC United US Soccer L, 1-3 Sat. 20 LOUISVILLE CITY FC YouTube 7 pm Wed. 24 @Harrisburg City Islanders YouTube 6:30 pm JUNE Sat. 3 ORLANDO CITY B YouTube 7 pm Sat. 10 @Toronto FC II YouTube 7:30 pm Sat. 17 @Louisville City FC YouTube 7:30 pm Thur. 22 TAMPA BAY ROWDIES YouTube 7 pm JULY Tue. 4 CHARLOTTE INDEPENDENCE YouTube 7 pm Sat. 8 @Orlando City B YouTube 7:30 pm Sat. 15 @Bethlehem Steel FC YouTube 5 pm Sat. 22 @Rochester Rhinos YouTube 6:05 pm Wed. 26 CHARLESTON BATTERY YouTube 7 pm Sat. 29 @Tampa Bay Rowdies YouTube 7:30 pm AUGUST Sat. 5 RICHMOND KICKERS YouTube 7 pm Sat. 12 @Harrisburg City Islanders YouTube 7 pm Sat. 19 @Saint Louis FC YouTube 8:30 pm Sat. 26 BETHLEHEM STEEL FC YouTube 7 pm SEPTEMBER Sat. 2 @FC Cincinnati YouTube 4 pm Sat. 9 LOUISVILLE CITY FC YouTube 7 pm Sat. 16 ROCHESTER RHINOS YouTube 7 pm Sun. 24 @Bethlehem Steel FC YouTube 3 pm Sat. 30 @New York Red Bulls II YouTube 4 pm OCTOBER Sat. 7 ROCHESTER RHINOS YouTube 7 pm Sat. 14 OTTAWA FURY FC YouTube 7 pm 2017 Pittsburgh Riverhounds > riverhounds.com > @PghRiverhounds > #PGHvLOU LAST TIME OUT Last Game Summary Hounds, 1, Ottawa Fury FC, 0 Game 9 TD Place Stadium May 13, 2017 INDIVIDUAL Category Riverhounds Opponent Points 4 - Corey Hertzog vs. New York (3/25) 4 - Vincent Bezecourt, New York (3/25) Goals 2 - Corey Hertzog vs. New York (3/25) 2 - Vincent Bezecourt, New York (3/25) Assists 1 - 2x; Kevin Kerr (4/8 | 4/29) 2 - Wes Charpie, Saint Louis (4/12) Shots 6 - Corey Hertzog vs. New York (3/25) 4 - Florian Valot, New York (3/25) SOG 4 - Corey Hertzog vs. New York (3/25) 3 - Fred Owusu Sekyere, Richmond (4/22) 3 - Florian Valot, New York (3/25) Saves 4 - Keasel Broome vs. New York (3/25) 4 - Matt Turner, Richmond (4/22) 4 - Mitch Hildebrandt, Cincinnati (4/1) TEAM Hounds High Hounds Low Category Opp High Opp Low 8 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - vs. Cincinnati (4/1) Points 8 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - three times 3 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - vs. Cincinnati (4/1) Goals 3 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - three times 2 - twice 0 - three times Assists 2 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - four times 14 - vs. New York (3/25) 6 - at Ottawa (5/13) Shots 16 - vs. Cincinnati (4/1) 8 - at Richmond (4/22) 6 - vs. New York (3/25) 3 - four times SOG 7 - vs. New York (3/25) 2 - two times 4 - vs. New York (3/25) 0 - vs. Saint Louis (4/12) Saves 4 - twice 2 - five times 14 - at Charleston (4/8) 8 - at Ottawa (5/13) Fouls 17 - twice 6 - at Richmond (4/22) SUPERLATIVES CLUB NOTABLES All-Time Leading Goal Scorer ......................................................................
