Dear Parents/Carers Wow, what a wonderful event the St Brendan’s Community Bash (Fete) day was last Sunday – despite the rain! It turns out that it has been over eighteen years since our school fete has been affected by rain as it was – I am so pleased it did not dampen the spirits of this fabulous community. I had a wonderful day and was fortunate enough to spend a little bit of time with my family. Thank you so much to all the incredible people who worked so hard to bring this wonderful community event together. A HUGE thank you to all the incredible people who organized this special event for our children. Special thanks to our Fete Co-Convenor – Patrick Shine and Site Manager – Simone Embleton and their team of wonderful helpers. It certainly would not have been the success it was, without their amazing dedication and commitment. Thank you!
I also cannot move on without thanking our incredible P&F Executive and their wonderful support of the fete. The contribution made by these wonderful women is incredible – thank you, Peta Shine (President), Carrie Leary (Secretary) and Laureen Smith (Treasurer).
Many thanks to our wonderful sponsors, local politicians and Parish and community organisations who supported us through the entertainment program and/or stall on our special day. Once again, our day could not have been the success it was without this wonderful support. It was also wonderful to see Fr Dan and many parishioners of the Moorooka Salisbury Parish attending and supporting our great school. This support helped to make this event a success – thank you! Another extremely important THANK YOU must go to my amazing staff. It never ceases to amaze me how the dedication of this wonderful team of people support the needs of this fabulous school, the children and their families. I have been in many schools in my 25+ years in education and I have never ever witnessed such commitment to a P&F event like I witness with our staff at every single fete. We are incredibly blessed to have such incredible people teaching our students and giving of themselves unselfishly. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all St Brendan’s School staff! Fete profits are still being finalized at this stage. We are hoping that we reach the $8000 mark of funds raised. Although this figure is down on previous years, we cannot underestimate the impact of the rain to this profit margin. Once these figures are finalized I will inform you of the final profits.
A critical part of planning for our next fete is the Review Meeting. On Monday morning, a Survey Monkey link was sent via email, which will take you to a survey that the committee and P&F Executive would really appreciate being completed. (A hard copy of this same survey will also be sent home to those families who receive the newsletter in hard copy – copies will also be available in the office.) There is a tight turn around on this year’s review so please return your ideas and feedback via this survey or form by Friday September 7. Thank you in advance for your consideration of this request and for providing your feedback!
Don’t Forget: Our annual Father’s Day stall is happening this Friday, August 31 starting at approximately 9am. This is a special time for the children to select something unique for the ‘father figures’ in their lives.
We encourage all students to bring along their pocket money to buy something small or big for their special person. All items for sale range from 50 cents to $5.00.
A HUGE thank you must go to Sarah Boase (mum of Lincoln – Year 1) for the wonderful work she has done to organize this stall so soon after the fete. We are so incredibly blessed to have such dedicated workers in our parent community. Thank you Sarah!
Next Monday evening, all of our teaching staff will attend a twilight professional learning session hosted by Mary Immaculate Primary School – Annerley. This professional learning session will explore the next step on our journey to implementing the Relationships and Sexuality Education in Catholic Schools curriculum in our school. We will join staff from our MAC Collaborative Schools, St James Primary School - Coorparoo and Mary Immaculate Primary School – Annerley. Special thanks must go to Ms Lagi Aukusitino – Principal and Ms Cath Conaghan – Primary Learning Leader at Mary Immaculate - Annerley who are generously hosting all three schools for this twilight session.
I pray that you all have a terrific week. May God’s blessings be with you and your families today and always!
Take care and God bless always In Faith and Love

Monday Mr Nash attended an information session regarding the Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) paper recently created by BCE. This paper looked at renewing what should be taught in our schools to grow confident, moral young people based on Gospel values. While teachers will soon be grappling with what this will look like in the classroom, the curriculum for this is mandated by the Federal and State Government to be taught across all schools. The staff will be attending a twilight session Monday night to hear more from our Education Officers regarding this curriculum. Stay tuned for more as progress through this curriculum renewal. First Eucharist – Next week some of our students will attend mass to celebrate reconciliation before receiving Jesus for the first time on September 9th at 9am at St Pius X Church, Salisbury. Parish Family Mass – Soon a date will be announced for the children to lead Saturday night mass in song, readings and prayers. I hope your family can attend. There will be a sausage sizzle after mass in the parish hall.

the Fete is still going …
$1.00 per guess - this will be available at the Father’s Day
