TOGETHERDear Center Community, The weather may be cooling but things are starting to heat up for our fall activities at the Center. Our theme this Fall is “Together”. Together we are diving into a season with kids going back to school, settling into new routines, and celebrating holidays.

As you’ll see, we have activities catered to you this season as well as opportunities to go beyond the Center and help our community together.

See you at the Center!

“Eighteen years ago I joined PCC because they

oered tennis clinics AND child care! I hadn’t lived here very long and didn’t have

many friends in the area. The tennis community at PCC has become a mainstay in my life. The friend-

ships I have made over the years are lifelong and I truly treasure the uniqueness

of each and everyone that has been cultivated from this group!”

Beyond the Center...TOGETHERStories ll the Center of members reaching out to each other. Whether supporting someone going through an injury or illness or celebrating milestones such as birthdays and job changes, we care about each other. It doesn’t stop here, the heartbeat of our community spills out beyond the Center. Each year members continually show their generosity to our City by giving time and resources to meet needs. Providing backpacks for students, serving families and schools in need are a few ways our community impacts Redwood City.

Kennedy Christmas ProjectIn 2005 some middle school students began delivering gifts to Kennedy families in need. This small act of generosity has grown into a partnership between PCC and the Kennedy Family Center. PCC brings a Christmas “store” to pre-identied families to “shop” for clothes and items they’ve indicated as needs. Volunteers purchase these items in advance, label them for the families and bring them to the store. When families come, they pick up their items and wrap the gifts together with our PCC community. Child care is provided for children with games so parents can “shop”. After families wrap gifts, and share refreshments they load up their car with help from volunteers. This is a unique opportunity to give love, share and connect with real people in a tough spot.

My entire family has volunteered with Kennedy Christmas and and we look forward to helping each year. We enjoy meeting people from our community and people from PCC, and it’s a great way to give back. Kennedy Christmas helps frame the Christms season as something more than just a time to think about ourselves and our immediate families, and gives us an opportunity to show love to Redwood City families.” - Jenn Wong, Center member and mom of three young boys.
