GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

DECEMBER 2, 2014 The General Membership Meeting of Queen City Dog Training Club was called to order by

President, Erica Behnke, at 7:53p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2014. It was held in the training facil-ity, Tramway Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio. Seventy one Regular Members, twelve Associate Members, and twenty Guests attended the meeting, which was preceded by a catered Holiday Party.

The minutes of the November 30, 2014 BOD meeting were read by Secretary, Pat Doty, for information, only.

Kim Smith moved “to accept the minutes of the November 4, 2014 General Membership Meet-ing as printed in Pawprints”. The motion passed.

Vice-President’s report, Erica Behnke:

Erica thanked Mary Ann Schmithhorst and her Elves for planning a wonderful Holiday Party! The entertainment was “Linda Setters and Her Dancing Dogs”! Thank you, Linda! Erica asked for assistance to break down the tables and chairs after the meeting and to set up the rings for the morning classes. Erica welcomed tonight’s guests: Tom Ford, Carolyn Byrd, Den Blanken, Janet Nintrup-Williams, Leon Williams, George C. Smith, Katie Henderson, Zac Seiler, Marianne Reynolds, Cindy Leavell, Sarah Leavell, Joshua Leavell, Lauren & Daniel Warndorf, Tyler Hall, Shawn Hannehan, Gerry Sawney, Jennifer Boughton, Robert Ryan, and Walt Fouch. The Rainbow Bridge has a new resident, Chris Puls’ “King” Erica extended condolences to Kath Cook, who lost her Father. On the Injured Reserve List: Linda Bourland, Karen Strasser, Rose Sorn, and Lori Penning-ton. The lucky winners of the Tracking Raffle Baskets are Joye Ford, Marcia Long, and Kathy Roberts! $181 was made from the basket raffle! Erica wished all QCDTC Members Happy Holidays, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanza, Rama-dan, Saturnalia!

Secretary’s report, Pat Doty: AKC has closed out the November Agility Trials. RuthAnn McCaulley, the November Rally Judge, sent a “Thank You Email”. She was very impressed with the stewards, loved the food, and “Overall I saw more really outstanding (not just good but great) dogs over the two days of your trial than I’ve seen in a long time”. Janet Johns, (Obedience Exhibitor, November Trial) sent a “Thank You Email”. She drove six hours to attend the trial and feels the trip is well worth it.

Treasurer’s Report, Catherine Berberich: No Report.

Membership: “Happy Birthday” to Elaine one day early! The Regular Membership will vote, by secret ballot, on the applications of Jennifer Boughton and Robert Ryan (Associate Membership) and Hannah Burke (Regular Membership). Elaine read the applications of Reagan Gould, Nikki Heintzelman, and Pat Postalian, for information, only. They are requesting Associate Membership. Associate Members, Gisela Blankenburg, Barbi Sherman, and Sally Vonderbrink are requesting Regular Membership. These applications will be voted on at the January 2015 General Meeting.

AKC Delegate: Rhoda is attending the Delegates’ Meeting in Orlando. She will attend committee meetings and make a report.

Training: Obedience, Jackie Juenke: Snow cancellations for 2015 will be on the Channel 12 network. There will be a “crawler” on WKRC -TV (channel 12) and a complete list on www.Local12.com. The new classes begin Monday, January 5, 2015 - Rally & Conformation; Wednesday, January 7 – PK, Basic 1&2, & Conformation,; Thursday, January 8 – PK, Basic 1 & 3. Agility, Sandy Schmidt & MaryAnn Chappelear: Classes begin the week of January 12, 2015. The schedule will be up next week. The Distance Seminar with Crystal King was great!!! The beginner Distance Seminar is December 11 from 6:30 – 9:30p.m.

Trials:

November Obedience/Rally. Benita Goldberg thanked all the volunteers that made this trial a huge success! Special thanks to Kim Smith for handling the “C” Match and to Leslie Gordon for being the Chief Ring Steward on Saturday. The next Show N Go will be in January 2015. Thanks to all who worked in 2014. Agility Trials. The Boston Agility Trials, hosted by QCDTC are December 27 & 28, 2014. Volunteers are always welcomed. The Golden Retriever Agility Trials are January 17 & 18, 2015. The March Tracking Tests have been approved.

Canine Cupboard: There are great toys to purchase for Holiday gifts for our furry friends!

Service Project: Cat Weil reminded the membership to “choose an angel”, purchase the gift card and send it (in the prepaid envelop) to One Way Farm.

Membership: QCDTC welcomes Jennifer Boughton and Robert Ryan, new Associate Members and Hannah Burke, new Regular Member. New members should contact Mary Kay Morel for an invitation to join QCDTC’s Yahoo list.

Announcements: Today is Jim Hutchins’ birthday! Happy Birthday, Jim! The Hutchins Building is named after Jim in appreciation for all the years, time and energy he has devoted to QCDTC. BIOS FOR 2015 QCDTC ELECTION

Erica Behnke—I've been a member of the club since 2004 and currently serve as President. I'm also the trial secretary for many of the agility trials held at QCDTC. My Brittanys and I have participated in agility and obedi-ence, and hope to add tracking to the list if I ever get free time. I'm also learning herding with my Border Collie. I've served six years as president of QCDTC, one year vice-president QCDTC, three years secretary Greenville Area DTC, and held numerous business-related committee memberships, board appointments and leadership roles.

Sarah Petersmann—

Catherine Bererich—I've been a member of Queen City since 2000. I enjoy training my Labradors and com-

peting in Agility. Recently I even dipped a toe inRally! In the "outside world", I'm a self employed

CPA. Currently

serving as Treasurer for the club, I feel my experience in accounting and running my own business brings an

advantage to our club and its success - financial and otherwise.

White Bourland—interested in Obedience and Agility. Handle building maintenance, club calendar, building supply

purchasing, one of the chief course builders in agility, chief plumber, run Papillons in agility.

Sandy Jennings—I have been a member of Queen City for 35 years. I began in obedience with my first Golden Retriever, Kicker. He earned a CD and a CDX. My next Golden, Kira, earned a CD. In addition to obedience I have dabbled in conformation. I show my dogs in UKC events as well as AKC. Being very interested in promot-ing and supporting QCDTC, I teach Puppy Kindergarten, Basic I, have served as the trial secretary for several obedience trials, ring stewarded, Pawprints editor and am currently a board member. I belong to the Cincinnati Kennel Club, the Greater Cincinnati Golden Retriever Club, the Golden Retriever Club of America, and the North-ern Kentucky Kennel Club. Professionally, I am a Human Resources professional with a Masters’ degree in Labor and Employment Relations and have earned the Senior Professional in Human Resources certification.

Marilyn Cones—Dogs have been an important part of my life. My father was a farmer and bred Border Col-

lies. He imported a dog from Scotland and used his dogs with sheep, cattle, and hogs. We would have 1 litter

a year with usually 7 puppies. When I finally bought a puppy for me when my children had grown, I got a Pem-

broke Welsh Corgi and fell in love with the breed. Took my first Corgi, Windsor, to Queen City for obedience

and have been working ever since at Queen City. Have concentrated mostly on obedience and rally, some

herding, and now have been involved in agility. A Bernese Mountain dog also lives at my house. Passing through the Denver Airport

many years ago, I saw a Berner. Asked the owners what it was. I thought it was the most beautiful dog I had ever seen and decided

one day I would have one. Spending years teaching elementary education has been beneficial in teaching Basic 1 obedience. The

classes are mostly pet people with their first dog. I encourage them to continue working and several have become active members of

the club. Was pleased to be asked to run for the board and will do my best to help the club in any way I possibly can.
