    PART A: Pressure Tank

    Problem Definition & Inputs :

    A pressure tank of dimensions: 200 x 100 x 150 mm is

subjected to an internal pressure of 2.5 MPa upto a

height of 125 mm from the bottom. The tank is 2mm

thick and is resting on the ground.

The Modulus of Elasticity and Possions Ratio are: 2.1E5 N/mm^2 and 0.3 respectively.

Geometry File Name: PartA_Problem1_Tank.hm (included in PartA.zip)

    Solution Expected from Student :

    Concept Design:

Use HyperWorks Student Edition to optimize the design of the pressure tank to Minimize the

Displacement at the center of each face of the tank

by creating reinforcement beads using Topography

    Optimization.

Provide two other design options with different bead patterns and compare their design performance.
