We need lots of help to make this week successful and run smoothly. Online signups are available (there is a link in the Feb. LOGOS and the weekly e-newsletters) NOTE: If you would like to sign up to help with children’s activities, but it is difficult for you to arrive by 5:15 PM, let Ann Backus know and she will cover until you arrive. Questions? See Ann Backus, Drew Jeffery or Ellen Jenny. Beginning NEXT Sunday, Feb. 10, join Mother Claire and your Good Sam friends for the Adult Henslee Hall Sunday School Class to hear epiphany stories. An epiphany is a moment of recognition or revelation in which we understand something differently and deeply. The insight feels like a gift…like a door opened or a light turned on…like a kaleidoscope rotated one notch. In the depths of our souls that surprising vision changes us. We begin to act differently because we are different. What are your epiphanies? When and how do they happen? How have they changed you? How can we learn to keep our eyes open for them? We will ponder together where God is being made manifest in our lives as well as in scripture. This class will run for 4 weeks, through March 3, the last Sunday in Epiphany. The 35th Annual Convention of the Episcopal Church in East Tennessee will take place on Friday, Feb. 8 & Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 at the Holiday Inn Knoxville Downtown. Our clergy, Megan Brown, Sinead Doherty, Jennifer Dunn, and David Sanders will represent Good Samaritan as delegates. Please keep them and our entire diocese in your prayers for the work they will do during this time. Parents’ Night out is this coming Friday, February 8 from 6-9 PM. Please let Ann or Emily know if your child(ren) will be attending. The Annual Faithful Families Winter Party is NEXT Saturday, Feb. 9 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM! Faithful Families is for families with children ages 3 through 5th grade. We will meet at 6:00 for pizza and then the fun will begin! It is always a wild and crazy fun time for the children and adults alike. Join us! THIS WEEK AT GOOD SAM - The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets at 4 PM today. - The 1 st Wed. The Knoxville Leadership Foundation serves the Knoxville area by connecting communities of resource with communities of need while reconciling people to Jesus Christ and to each other. The programs conducted through Knoxville Leadership Foundation provide a wide range of opportunities for growth, restoration and relationship building throughout our region. While the programs are as diverse as the individuals in the communities they serve, they all have one common thread: to ultimately build a better community by connecting leaders, resources and needs. It's a natural outgrowth of our calling as the body of Christ to minister to one another and carry each other's burdens. That's what we mean by weaving the fabric of a strong community. Programs include Amachi mentoring for children with incarcerated family members or who are at-risk, homebuyer readiness programs, Operation Backyard and KnoxWorx job skill training. Funds donated today will specifically go towards Amachi mentoring, to help support KLF as they make new mentor/mentee matches in our community and impact even more lives!
