Mass Intention Book Opens
Friday, November 6th at
1:30 PM
in the CONVENT Offices
We will book Masses for next year in person on a first-come, first-served basis. We regret that we must limit the number of Masses booked to 5 per family at this time. No Mass intentions can be accepted by phone.
Please consider that there are more than 3,900 registered families in our parish and the parish has about 1200 Masses each year. The usual offering for each announced Mass is $10. We are not able to take requests over the telephone. Forms are available in the churches and in the rectory office.
Please be patient. Last year there were hundreds of requests during the first week. Please keep in mind that we also can accept any number of UNANNOUNCED Mass intentions, although we cannot tell you when or where the Mass will be said and there will be no announcement in the bulletin for this Mass.
*You can also enroll your deceased loved one in the Memorial Mass Society.
The Mass book will be opened as usual on Monday, November 9th at the RECTORY reception desk.
Thank you for your co-operation and patience.

This Sunday, November 1, we celebrate the Feast
of All Saints. The celebration reminds us that the
true company of the saints is far more numerous
than the list of those who have been formally
canonized.
It is also an occasion to recognize and
acknowledge that there are a great deal of
varieties of holiness. Saints are not formed in any
particular mold. Some are renowned for
contemplation and prayer, and others for action;
some played a public role in the world while
others spent their lives in obscurity; some
demonstrated a devotion and a zeal for ancient
traditions while others were pioneers, charting
new possibilities. Some received recognition and
honor during their lifetimes, while others were
scorned and even persecuted.
The feast also reminds us that saints are not super
human beings far removed from ordinary
existence, but rather are people who recognized
the vocation for which all human beings were
created and to which we are all called. We do not
need to aspire to be a St Francis or a St Teresa but
rather to follow the path to holiness that lies
within our individual circumstances, that engages
our own talents and temperaments, that contends
with our strengths and weaknesses, that responds
to the needs of our neighbors and our own
particular moment of history. The feast
strengthens and encourages us to create that path
by walking it.

The first Sunday in November is observed by the
C h u r ch a s C a t h o l i c C e m e t er y S u n d a y .
It is appropriate that we call attention to this
observance here in the parish of St. Catharine-St.
Margaret, because we are blessed to have
responsibility and care for not one, but two
Catholic cemeteries and two beautiful
mausoleums.
We follow the standard Policies & Procedures and
the standard Rules and Regulations—intended to
protect the families using our cemeteries, assuring
that our cemeteries will always bear witness to
what the Catholic Church believes and teaches
about life, death and life after death. This year’s
observance offers the opportunity to take some
positive actions, including visiting one of our
cemeteries to pray for the peaceful repose of your
family and friends, assuring that the graves of
your beloved dead are properly memorialized, and
assuring that any decorations left at the grave site
are safe, and in compliance with cemetery
regulations.

Sister Faida from Uganda is very attached to Our Lady of Fatima Shrine near St. Catharine Church. One of our missionary volunteers, Rachelle Maget, gave her a statue that resembled ours. Sr. Faida, in turn, had a little structure built to encase the statue along with places to sit and pray near the maternity unit! Our Lady of Fatima in the bush area of Alanyi!

We assist organizations such as Madonna House, Birth Right, Good Counsel Homes, etc. in the work they do for the protection of the unborn. Each parish is represented in our group which meets the first Wednesday of each month at St. Catharine convent in Spring Lake at 7:30 PM. Contact Mary Reilly, [email protected] or 732-685-6011. If you are feeling the call to help our unborn brothers and sisters, please join us. Thank You!
