Hardware Platform of the WASN9770 Subrack

The hardware platform of the WASN9770 is

based on that of the Huaweis core router-

Universal Switching Router (USR) of the 5th

    generation.

The signaling plane and data plane are

separately structured. In other words, the

signaling plane consist of multiple CPUs of high

performance, and the data plane consists of

multiple network processors (NPs) of high

    performance and high forwarding capability.

The key boards support the hot swappable

and hot backup to ensure the reliability.

Two -48V DC power modules supply the

    power in load-sharing mode.

Based on the NE40-8 subrack, the width is 19 inches and the height

is 18 U. The fan frame in 5+1 backup mode, cabling trough, air

    intake vent are available.

Up to 10 slots are available. The boards are as follows:

1SRU (Switching and Routing Unit ): It is used to collect the route

information and generate the route list. In addition, it is the

operation and maintenance agent and the data packet switching

center.2SPU ( Service Processing Unit): It is used to process the service

    related to the WiMAX protocol.

3LPU (Line interface Processing unit): It is used to provide the

physical interfaces to external networks and data forwarding

    function.

All boards are configured in 1+1 backup mode.

Two SRUs are fixed in slots 9 and 10. Other slots are used for the SPU and LPU.

Generally, two LPUs are configured. Slots 1 and 2 are reserved for the LPU to facilitate cabling.

Two/four/six SPUs are configured according to the requirements. The neighboring two boards are one

pair and can be configured in slots 3/4, slots 5/6 and slots 7/8.

    Serviceflow

    Signaling

    flow

    Service data flow: After

receiving the UL or DL data, the

    LPU directly processes and

forwards it if the data is common

    route packet. The LPU forwards

the data to the SPU if the data

must be processed by the SPU.

After being processed by the SPU,

the data is forwarded through the

    LPU.

    Signaling flow: The LPU

    receives the UDP signaling or

    DHCP signaling from the R6

    interface. If the destination

address is the IP address of the

R6 interface on the SPU, the LPUforwards the signaling to the

    related SPU. After processing the

    signaling, the SPU forwards the

    corresponding signaling to the

    LPU through the SRU.
