ITTC was founded in 1984 to provide high quality Englishlanguage teacher training courses leading to the CambridgeCertificate and Diploma qualifications. Since then, we haveincreased the range of courses we offer and grown in sizeand reputation. Now, hundreds of teachers pass through ourdoors each year and benefit from the training we offer.
From the beginning, ITTC has been involved in thedevelopment of the University of Cambridge teaching awardsand has helped in the piloting of the revised certificate anddiploma qualifications and new qualifications such as ICELTand TKT.
In 2001, ITTC became part of BEET Language Centre, a family-run independent school, with responsibility for teachertraining. The move to the BEET site improved the facilities wewere able to offer and allowed for investment in bothequipment and staff development. However, as ITTC grew itbecame clear that new dedicated premises were needed.Alpha Lodge was purchased in 2011 and developed as aspecialised teacher training centre. We continue to workclosely with BEET, ensuring that both trainers and traineeshave an ongoing working relationship with a thriving andbusy language school.
BEET is accredited by the British Council and a member ofEnglish UK, Quality English and IALC. It is also the onlyBournemouth school currently in membership of The EnglishNetwork, the organisation of some of England’s leadingindependent English language schools.
Participants on the teacher training courses have ranged from18 to 74 years old and we have welcomed teachers frommore than 60 countries onto our courses since we becamepart of BEET.
Throughout your stay you will receive guidance and supportfrom your tutors, whose close attention will ensure that youderive the maximum benefit from your course.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school.

The Cambridge CELTA and Delta qualificationsare internationally accepted as the benchmark of TEFLtraining and form the core of ITTC’s programmes. We regardthese qualifications as being the best in the world, not onlyfor their quality in equipping teachers to perform to thehighest standards, but also for their universal currency. ITTCworks closely with the University of Cambridge EnglishLanguage Teaching Awards and has been involved in thepiloting and development of both the CELTA and Deltaqualifications from their inception, and more recently theTeaching Knowledge Test (TKT) and the ICELT Module One.
A certificate validated by the University of Cambridge has astatus that is unquestioned and is the passport toemployment worldwide.
The Acid Test
Since we ran our first Certificate level course in 1984 morethan 5000 candidates have gained the qualification at anaverage success rate of 97%.
During the last 10 years, ITTC achieved an average pass-rateof 84% at diploma level from an entry of over 200 candidates.
One-Day TEFL Tasters

To try and help you make your decision, ITTC runs a numberof TEFL Taster days throughout the year to give you an insightinto what will happen on a CELTA course and future careerpossibilities.
These 1-day courses take you from initial ice-breakers,through classroom management, grammar and lessonplanning, to actually teaching a group of our owninternational students! The day includes lunch and an advice shop. We alsosuggest ways to help you prepare for the course.
Tasters take place on either a Friday during theworking week or a Saturday.
You are under no obligation to apply for a place onone of our courses afterwards, but if you like whatyou see and choose to enrol on one of our 4-weekCELTA courses, the cost of the TEFL Taster will bededucted from the course fee.
