Lining the Language Arts hall at Oak Hills are life size characters that the students in Ms. Tyler's and Ms. Gentry's 6th Grade ELA classes created after reading the novel, Among the Hidden. Student groups were required to copy text evidence from the book that revealed important details about the characters and come up with two "props" their character would use.

Many thanks go to McCoy’s Building Supply in Montgomery for donating picnic table kits to the MES 4th Grade Wood Working E-tracks, under the guidance of Sarah Wieghat and Buddy Hodges. The students worked hard the last nine weeks; reading building plans, using hand and power tools, and collaborating together to successfully build three picnic tables. The picnic tables are now available for students and teachers to use as an outdoor classroom. After finishing the picnic tables, students began work on pallet art and look forward to displaying their work at their E-tracks Showcase. The Wood Working Group consisted of Lucas Scogin, Lane Miers, David Troyer, Charles Villarreal, Addison Muncherjee, Matthew May, Kyle Gay, Logan Anderson, Sage Houser, Bradly Silvas, Hannah Sifuentes, and Aby Lehmann.

MJH has five incredible choirs in which students can participate: 6th Grade Girls, 6th Grade Boys, Bella Voce Women, Concert Women, and Men's Choir. These talented MJH students along with their director’s Mr. Bansuelo and Mrs. Allcorn recently performed at the Veterans Day program as well as their Christmas concerts this week. MJH Choirs have a long history of first division ratings at UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. They have also won the Space City Showcase of Music Overall Outstanding Award and Outstanding in Class awards several times. “We love to sing and we love to share our music!” said Mr. Bansuelo and that is clearly evident anytime you hear a Montgomery Choir!

Our 8th Grade Science students have been comparing and learning the differences between speed, velocity, and acceleration this week. Mrs. McFadden's students are experimenting and testing how the height of a ramp impacts velocity. Our 7th Grade Science students are learning about the Laws of Motion. Coach Rice (AKA Sensei) demonstrated these laws by doing a little board breaking and laying on a bed of nails! The students were thrilled and captivated by his martial arts science expertise.

Christmas Angels are everywhere at Lone Star! Students, staff, and community members have all been busy shopping for our Angel Tree program recipients. With the open hearts and donations of many, this year's Angel Tree program will be a blessing to many of our own. Every 5th grade class has even volunteered to adopt a local Angel Tree family in lieu of receiving gifts at their own class party! Special thanks to them, April Sound church and golf club, LSE PTA, MISD Blue Santa, and also shown here, these very giving ladies at United Methodist Church-Woodforest.
