Round 12 St John’s v East Hills

16 – 40

Tries: Simon, Michael, Jonah x2 Well done to all our players this week! We played short again this week, but it didn’t stop the boys putting in 100% and by the time they walked off the field, they were all very exhausted. The organisation in our play the ball was fantastic which set our runners up with some great runs. Our defence was equally impressive, with an amazing display of try saving tackles. Well done everyone. Our player of the match this week went to Jonah and our encouragement award went to Joey! Great job!

Round 14

Congratulations boys what a game! Today’s game was a showcase of what our boys are capable of and I am sure all your parents were very proud of your achievements, I know I am very proud. Round 12 St Johns v Bulls

52 – 18 Tries: Andre x4, Ahmed, Nikolao x2, Netava, John Goals: Marat, Adam, John, Samuel, Ahmad, Netava, Andre, Charlie Strange game, with a strong start and finish with all the opposition points scored in the second period! Andre and Ahmed Sankari opened up our try count in the first period with Marat and Adam kicking conversions. 12-0. In the second it was try for try with the bulls out scoring us 16-18 with the boys missing a kick at goal. Netava crossed over to score and Andre a double, with John and Samuel kicking the two points. 28-18. In the third period the boys blew them out of the park with 24 unanswered points! Nick scored a double, Andre crossed over for his fourth and John a great try to finish the game. Ahmad, Netava, Andre and Charlie kicked goals. Our biggest win of the season!! With a bit of a wakeup call in the second third, giving the bulls a little bit of hope, the boys never gave up shutting the gate in the third period. Ahmed Sankari was very impressive in this one as he is running with purpose and tackling his heart out.

Round 11 St Johns v Bulls

34 – 4 Tries: Logan Ofisa x2, Jake Khoury, Youssef Tawk, Mohamed Malas George Abd, Sean Woodard Goals: Marcelino Ayrout, Mohamed Malas, Logan Ofisa, Sean Woodard Two words sum up this week’s game and they are TEAM WORK. Every member of our side

contributed in a wonderful defensive display. We kept the opposition scoreless up until there

was only two minutes left on the clock, and only then from a couple of penalties. Our wonderful defence from players who always lead by example Logan, Mohamed and our courageous and ever improving fullback Youssef, well done. Their effort was infectious as the team followed their example. Our Man of the match is Sean who continues to astound

with his improvement with a couple of strong runs fending off a couple of players on his way

to the try line. We have shown what were capable of let’s keep it up, well done.

Round 12 St Johns v East Hills

14 – 42 Tries: Logan Ofisa x3 Goals: Mohamed Malas The score line doesn’t reflect the effort our boys put in, especially in light of the fact that we were playing a second division team. And to our boys credit they never gave in and instead just kept plugging away. Our man of the match this week Youssef Hamad with an amazing work rate and a great ability to offload under pressure. It is hard to believe that this Youssef’s first year. His work rate and attitude are an inspiration to the entire team. Keep up the good work Youssef.

Round 14

St Johns v Greenacre 6 – 28

Tries: Logan Ofisa Goals: Logan Ofisa Well done boys, we all listened and paid attention at training this week and that was Very evident in our defensive effort for the first ten. We kept the opposition scoreless up until the last play of the half. We very nearly went over in our first set and it shows what we can do when we have a go. Our Man of the match Simon Ayoub showed an inkling of what he is capable of not only in Defence but with a couple of blistering runs. Also welcome back to Joseph your teammates missed you. Last but not least was a terrific effort by Yousif Tawk with a drop kick that cleared the half way line after we were trapped in goal.

WASHED OUT

Round 14 St Johns v Greenacre Tigers

18 – 32 Fantastic start to the game we led scoring first when PJ Afoa crossed over after a barging run. Tigers had the majority of possession for most of the first half. Unfortunately we let 3 tries in going into half time down 16 -6. We started the second half as good as the first. We scored first again when Rayden Harfouche was rewarded for his effort diving over for a great try. Tigers had the run of possession again scoring back to back. In the last 7 mins we finally had some possession and we gathered momentum. Connor Carbone McCann showed his skill with a classic dummy before a strong step to open up the tigers running 80 metres to score under the post. Conversion successful. With limited time left the errors cost us the win - great effort with a better finish. Well done boys, thanks for the season.

Round 8

St Johns v Dundas 16 – 6

Tries: Bilal x2, Gian Mario, Kristian Goals: NIL We were expecting a challenge at Dundas (top 4 team) and we weren’t disappointed. The pleasing thing for us was that we were able to improve our game with some of the things we have been working on at training – particularly with our halves getting better ball a little wider of the ruck. This game was four tries to nil until the last 5 minutes so we always felt as though we were in control. We will take a few lessons from this game too. Both the Chehine boys were great with Bilal bagging a double and Jilal playing his best game of the season at hooker. Again our backrow of Jacob, John and Paul worked well together and contributed in attack and defence. Gibb also continued his great form with a strong game. Both CJ and Kristian had their best half of the season. We were also really pleased with some great kick chase effort led by Billy and Bilal and followed up by GM. All in all a solid win against a competitive opposition. The best & fairest points this week as judged by Anthony Karam went to: 3 – Gibb Marshall 2 – Gian Mario Serratore 1 – Bilal Chehine

Round 9

St Johns v Leichhardt 20 – 6

Tries: Gian Mario x2, Bilal, David Goals: Gian Mario x2 We came into this game down on troops and with a few boys carrying injuries. We ended up with 14 just before kick-off, and basically a whole new right side set up. After a disrupted pre-game we started well by capitalising on an error and getting our first try to GM in the first set. Unfortunately we also made an error off the restart and then followed that up with some poor communication in defence, letting Leichhardt even up straight away. Once again we were in a real stop-start game which didn’t really suit us. Special mention to Jacob Karam who had a strong game. It was also great to see James able to play some long minutes. There were nice attacking runs from Bilal and GM, both looked dangerous. Paul and John continued their great form. Kana, Ali and Sergio did enough to deny any points on their (right) side – given the circumstances, it was a good effort. Paul and Jacob were both good in the backrow. Danny was strong whilst he was on too. CJ also showed glimpses of what he is capable of. Dave crashed over for a try in the 2nd half. In the end we held on in challenging circumstances and go into next week hopeful we

can get a few more troops back on deck. We still have plenty to do but the boys are working really hard to improve their game which is really pleasing. The best & fairest points this week as judged by Nick Karam went to: 3 – Jacob Karam 2 – Jalal Chehine 1 – Gian Mario Serratore

Round 10

St Johns v Maroubra 22 – 14

Tries: Gian Mario x3, Bilal Goals: Gian Mario x3 We were shocked right from the start by a very slick Maroubra team. They punished us twice for defending on our heels and failing to shut down a shift. We found ourselves in unfamiliar territory – down 10 – nil. We were struggling to get any real momentum and it was only a super effort from Gian Mario who scored a solo try to get us back to 10-6 at the break. We adjusted a few things at half time and on the back of some great work from Paul and John Saliba we started to make some ground in attack, allowing Billy to attack on the front foot. He threw the final pass for three tries (2 more to GM and one to Bilal). Our response to being tested was to score 22 unanswered points which was the most positive thing to come out of the game. We conceded a try late and hung on to win by 8 points. The best & fairest points this week as judged by Nick Karam went to: 3 – Gian Mario Serratore 2 – Jacob Karam 1 – James Abouharb

Round 11 St Johns v Newtown

20 – 20 Tries: Gian Mario x2, Bilal, Kana Goals: Gian Mario x2 We came into this game after a wash out the week before – and even though we missed a few sessions, we did manage a high level opposed session during the week. So our expectations were high. We had some field position early but we weren’t very effective with the ball and wasted a few great opportunities. We managed our first try due to some great lead up work by Jacob Kiraz and some nce passing through to Kana who dived over in the left corner. We followed this up when GM split them through the ruck and dashed 60m to score under the posts. A few errors gave Newtown some field position and through some hard running they managed to score before half time. We started the second half poorly and on the back of some penalties we defended for the first 8 minutes, conceding 2 tries through some lacklustre defence and found ourselves behind 14 – 10. We didn’t panic and the efforts of John and Paul kept us competitive. We then managed a try through Bilal to even up the game. A few more errors and lazy defence

resulted in another try and goal to Newtown. In the end, it was simply an amazing and powerful run from Gian Mario that allowed us to even up the scores at 20 – all with 2 minutes to go. The game ended in a draw, and apart from the result, we were disappointed with how we played. This game was a bit of a step backwards for us. We have 2 weeks to turn the momentum back our way before the semis and we believe the boys are absolutely capable of that. The best & fairest points this week as judged by Anthony Karam went to: 3 – Gian Mario 2 – Paul Saliba 1 – John Saliba Anthony Karam
