George Kodakuthumparambil Varghese, Palace Fields Practical Information regarding the reopening of the Cathedral for Public Masses We look forward to the reopening of the Cathedral for Public Masses on July 13 th . In preparation for this we ask parishioners to keep the following in mind: ·The Cathedral will be sub divided into three sections: St. Jarlaths Woods, Mercy Woods and the main body of the Cathedral. Each section has its own entrance/ exit. There will be no movement from one section to another at Mass time. ·Parishioners are encouraged to sanitize their hands on entry to the Cathedral using the hand gel provided. The wearing of face masks is encouraged at this time. ·Please follow the directions of the ushers when entering the Cathedral before Mass. ·Seats will be cordoned off to ensure social distancing. ·There will be no offertory collection taken up during the Masses. Offertory boxes will be placed at the exits from the Cathedral. ·Holy Communion may only be received in the hand. Ministers of the Eucharist will wear face coverings as they distribute Holy Communion. ·There may be people disappointed at the door when they cannot get in once the prescribed number is reached. We ask your understanding in this regard. ·Those who attend Mass during the week are asked to allow those who cannot attend during the week to attend the weekend Masses. ·Each person has responsibility for his/her own personal welfare. Each person is asked exercise social distancing and follow the directions of the Cathedral Ushers. Summer Offerings for the Archbishop & Priests Thank you to all who have contributed to the summer collection for the Archbishop and priests of the parish. Your support is very much appreciated. Pope Francis’ Prayer Intention for July 2020 — We pray that today's families may be accompanied with love, respect and guidance. The Sacrament of Baptism Families wishing to have a child baptised are welcome at this time. Baptisms take place after Mass on Sundays. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions those attending the baptism should be limited to immediate family only. To book a baptism call to the Parish Office on Mon- days, Wednesdays or Fridays, complete the booking form and bring along a copy of the child’s Birth Certificate. Something we all understand, even some 2,000 years later! James 5:8 tells us ‘You must be patient. Keep your hopes high, for the day of the Lord’s coming is near’. Our collective patience is now bearing fruit and we are delighted that public Mass will resume as of Monday, 13 July. As you are well aware, our experience arriving for Mass, our attendance and leaving will be very different than heretofore. While the Cathedral seating will be organised into three sections, overall capacity will still be limited. We are depending on everyone to please: 1. Be responsible for themselves 2. Listen carefully to the ushers’ instructions 3. Adhere to the physical markings 4. Follow general health and safety guidelines We are united in our hope for the return to go as smoothly as possible. The Parish Pastoral Council, Eucharistic Ministers, ushers, cleaners and other volunteers have worked hard to ensure our worship in a safe place. Father Sean and I are very grateful for their time and help and we know they will appreciate your co-operation. As you return, you may wish to drop off your weekly envelope. Many parishioners have been doing so, including some from earlier in the lockdown. There are collection boxes located in the Cathedral, if the timing is appropriate for you now.
