AutoSense Data Types for ATMS
AutoSense products are primarily vehicle detectors and vehicle classifiers
For ATMS applications AutoSense stores vehicle counts separated into vehicle classes
7© 2013 OSI LaserScan Confidential and Proprietary
(13 standard, configurable on request)
OSI LaserScan does not provide roadside controllers, system integration services or complete system for ATMS
AutoSense Interfaces
All communication is between roadside controller and AutoSense device over RS422
For ATMS applications, roadside controller will typically be set up to query AutoSense on

regular intervals (configurable)
AutoSense responds with data separated into standard vehicle classes as detected since last query

AutoSense Applications
Primary Application for AutoSense: Toll systems (>9 5%)
Typical requirements include accurate detection, cl assification, and separation of vehicles, as well as trigger enfo rcement systems… Equipment accuracy can directly affect reve nue.

…AutoSense satisfies these requirements through its unique, patented design that delivers multi-sensor performance in a single unit.
Strengths / Weaknesses
STRENGTHS
- Proven product
- Accuracy
- Reliability
- Ability to separate closely
following vehicles at high speed
WEAKNESSES
- High cost compared to
technology most commonly
used for ATMS
- Accuracy can be affected by
adverse weather conditions
11© 2013 OSI LaserScan Confidential and Proprietary
ACCURACY
> 99% for vehicle detection
> 95% for classification into well-
defined vehicle classes
RELIABILITY
MTBF > 35,000 hours
ACCURACY
- In multilane systems (ORT)
accuracy achieved depend very
much on system integrator’s
ability to join data from several
units
AutoSense Maintenance Considerations
• If a unit fails in the field, the typical action is to replace the unit with another one.
• Mean Time to Replace: 15 minutes
• No maintenance required other than cleaning front window every 3-6 months.

window every 3-6 months.
• Failures are typically related to power supplies or other electronic parts. Mechanical failures are very rare.
Cost of Deployment
• Cost per lane (single lane using AS615): Appr. US$ 7,500.00 including mounting kit, cabling etc.
• Cost per lane (dual lane using AS825): appr.Appr. US$ 5,500.00 including mounting kit, cabling etc.
• Costs include firmware and there are no recurring
13© 2013 OSI LaserScan Confidential and Proprietary
• Costs include firmware and there are no recurring license fee’s
• These figures do not include power supplies, surge protection, roadside controller(s), back-office, etc. which would normally all be required for a complete ATMS
AutoSense Key Benefits
AutoSense Provides Toll Operators and System Integr ators With Several Key Advantages:
Multifunction Sensor Simplifies Tolling & ETC Architectures, Minimizing Use Of
Other Technologies
AutoSense 600 and 800: Eliminates Need For Loops And Light Curtains
Noninvasive, Cost Competitive Solution compared to in-lane vehicle detection Higher Resolution Compared To Other Laser Scanner Products
14© 2013 OSI LaserScan Confidential and Proprietary
Higher Resolution Compared To Other Laser Scanner Products Reduces Complexity Of Detection And Classification System Integration Leading
To Improved System Performance Low Life Cycle Costs (Compared To Other Technologies)
Units initially installed for Single Lane Applications can be Reused for Multilane
Free Flow Tolling
