WARRANTYTERMS AND CONDITIONS
InthiswarrantySimbaInternationalLtd.,isreferredtoas“theCompany”.
1. SubjecttotheprovisionsofthiswarrantytheCompanywarrantseachnewmachinesoldbyittobesoldfreefromanydefectinmaterialorworkmanshipforaperiodof12monthsfromdateofinstallationwiththeend-user.
Somespecificitemshaveadditionalwarrantyoverandabovethestandard12months.DetailsofthesecanbeobtaineduponrequestdirectlyfromthedistributororSimbaInternationalLtd.
2. IfthemachineorpartthereofsuppliedbytheCompanyisnotinaccordancewiththewarrantygiveninclause1theCompanywillatitsoption:
(a) makegoodthemachineorpartthereofattheCompany’sexpense,or(b) makeanallowancetothepurchaseragainstthepurchasepriceofthemachineorpart
thereof,or(c) acceptthereturnofthemachineandatthebuyersoptioneither: I) repayorallowthebuyertheinvoicepriceofthemachineorpartthereof,or II) replacethemachineorpartthereofasisreasonablypractical.
3. ThiswarrantyshallnotobligetheCompanytomakeanypaymentinrespectoflossofprofitorotherconsequentiallossorcontingentliabilityofthePurchaserallegedtoarisefromanydefectinthemachineorimposeanyliabilityontheCompanyotherthanthatcontainedinclause2.
4. AnyclaimunderthiswarrantymustbenotifiedtotheCompanyinwritingspecifyingthematterscomplainedofwithin14daysfromthedateofrepair.
5. Anyclaimunderthiswarrantymustbemadebytheoriginalpurchaserofthemachineandisnotassignabletoanythirdparty.
6. IfthepurchaserhiresoutthemachinetoanythirdpartythewarrantyshallapplyonlytomattersnotifiedtotheCompanyinwritingwithin90daysofthedateofdeliveryandclause1shallbereadasiftheperiodof90daysweresubstitutedfortheperiodof12months.
7. Thewarrantywillceasetoapplyif:
(a) anypartsnotmade,suppliedorapprovedinwritingbytheCompanyarefittedtothemachineor(b) anyrepairiscarriedouttothemachineotherthanbyorwiththeexpresswrittenapprovalofthe
Companyor(c) anyalterationsnotexpresslyauthorizedbytheCompanyinwritingaremadetothemachineor(d) themachineisdamagedbyaccidentor(e) themachineisabusedoroverloadedorusedforapurposeorloadbeyonditsdesigncapabilities,
orusedinconjunctionwithatractorwhosepoweroutputcapabilityexceedsthestatedimplementpowerrequirementbymorethan40%.Forthepurposeofthesetermsandconditions,“statedimplementpowerrequirement”referstowheeledtractorsunlessspecificallystated.Thesepowerrequirementsshouldbereducedby20%whenusedinconjunctionwithtrackedtractors.
(f) themachineisoperatedaspartofa‘cultivationtrain’wheremorethanoneimplementisbeingtowed,withouttheexpresswrittenapprovalofSimbaInternationalLtd.
(g) anymaintenanceisnotcarriedout inaccordancewiththeserviceschedules intheoperator’smanual.
(h) theInstallationandWarrantyRegistrationCertificateisnotreceivedbySimbaInternationalLtd.,ServiceDept.,WoodbridgeRoad,Sleaford,Lincolnshire,England,NG347EW,within7daysofinstallinganewmachine.

Introduction
ForewordMake sure you have readand follow theOperatingInstructionscarefullybeforeusingthemachine.By doing so, youwill avoidaccidents,reducerepaircostsanddowntimeandincreasethereliabilityandservicelifeofyourmachine.Payattentiontothesafetyinstructions!
SimbaGreat Plains will not accept anyresponsibilityforanydamageormalfunctionsresulting from failure to complywith theOperatingInstructions.
TheseOperating Instructionswill assistyouingettingtoknowyourmachineandinusingitcorrectlyforitsintendedpurposes.First,youaregivengeneralinstructionsinhandling themachine.This is followedbysections on servicing,maintenance andtheactiontobetakenshouldamalfunctionoccur.
Theseoperatinginstructionsaretobereadandfollowedbyallpersonsworkingonorwiththemachine,e.g.:
• Operation (including preparation,remedying of faults in the operatingsequenceandservicing).
• Maintenance (maintenance andinspection)
• Transportation.
Togetherwith theOperating Instructions,you receive a Spare Parts List and aMachineRegistration form. Field servicetechnicianswillinstructyouintheoperationand servicing of yourmachine.Followingthis, theMachineRegistration form is tobe returned to your dealer.This confirmsyour formal acceptance of themachine.Thewarrantyperiodbeginsonthedateofdelivery.
We reserve the r ight to al terillustrations as well as technicaldataandweightscontainedintheseOperatingInstructionsforthepurposeofimprovingthemachine.
Warranty GuidelinesTheperiodof liability formaterial defects(warranty) relating to our products is 12months. Inthecaseofwrittendeviationsfromthestatutoryprovisions,theseagreementsshallapply.
Theyshallbecomeeffectiveuponinstallationof themachinewith theendcustomer.Allwearpartsareexcludedfromthewarranty.
Allwarranty claimsmust be submitted toSimbaGreatPlainsviayourdealer.

The Operating Instructions distinguishbetweenthreedifferenttypesofwarningandsafety instructions.The following graphicsymbolsareused:

Itisimportantthatallthesafetyinstructionscontained in theseOperating Instructionsandall thewarningsignson themachinearereadcarefully.
Ensurethat thewarningsignsare legible.Replace any signs that aremissing ordamaged.

1.3 Operational SafetyThemachine is to be put in operationonly after instruction has been providedby an employee of the authorised dealeror an employee of SimbaGreat Plains.The “MachineRegistration” form is to becompletedandreturnedtoyourdealer.
All protectiveandsafetyequipment, suchas removable protectiveequipment,mustbeinplaceandfunctioningreliablybeforethemachineisputinuse.
Checkscrewsandboltsregularlyfor tightness and retighten ifnecessary.
In the event of malfunctions,stop and secure the machineimmediately.
Ensurethatanyfaultsareremediedimmediately.
1.4 No Liability for Consequential DamageThe UniPress has beenmanufacturedwith great care.However, problemsmaystilloccurwhenitisusedfortheintendedpurpose.Thesemayinclude:
•Wornwearingparts.•Damagecausedbyexternalfactors.•Incorrectdrivingspeeds.• Incorrect setting of the unit (incorrectattachment,non-adherence to theSettinginstructions).
Therefore, it is crucial to alwayscheck yourmachine before andduring operat ion for correctoperationandadequateapplicationaccuracy.
Compensationclaimsfordamagewhichhasnot occurred to themachine is excluded.This includes any consequential damageresultingfromincorrectoperation.
1.2 Use for the Intended Purpose The Simba Great Plains UniPress isbuilt using the latest technology and inaccordancewith the relevant recognisedsafety regulations. However, risks ofinjury for theoperatoror thirdpartiesandimpairmentofthemachineorothertangibleassetscanariseduringuse.
Themachineisonlytobeoperatedwheninatechnicallyperfectconditionandfortheintendedpurpose,takingintoconsiderationsafetyandrisksandfollowingtheOperatingInstructions. In particular, faults that canimpairsafetyaretoberemediedimmediately.
Original parts and accessories fromSimbaGreatPlains havebeen speciallydesigned for thismachine. Spare partsandaccessories not suppliedbyushavenotbeen testedorauthorised. Installationoruseofnon-originalSimbaGreatPlainsproductsmayhaveadetrimentaleffectonspecificdesignfeaturesofthemachineandaffectthesafetyofmachineoperatorsandthemachineitself.SimbaGreatPlainswillacceptnoliabilityfordamageresultingfromtheuseofnon-originalpartsoraccessories.
The Simba Great Plains UniPress isdesignedsolelyasacultivationimplement.Useforanyotherpurpose,e.g.,asameansoftransport,willbedeemedtobeimproperuse. SimbaGreat Plains will accept noliabilityfordamageresultingfromimproperuse.The riskwill be borne solely by theoperator.
Use of theUniPress behind high powertractors (in excess of 40% above themaximumrecommended)canleadtohighloadsandstresseswhichcancause longtermstructuraldamagetothechassisandkey components. Such overloading cancompromisesafetyandistobeavoided.

Bewareoftrappinghazardswhenmanipulating theparkingstandsor other moving parts. Ensureanyheavycomponentsare fullysupportedwhenremovingpins/bolts.
1.6.1 Hitching-up the machineThere is a risk of injury when hitching/unhitching the machine. Observe thefollowing:
• Securethemachineagainstrolling.• Take special carewhen reversing the
tractor!• Thereisariskofbeingcrushedbetween
themachineandthetractor!• Parkthemachineonfirm,levelground.
1.6.2 On the Hydraulic SystemDonot connect the hydraulic lines to thetractoruntilbothhydraulicsystems(machineandtractor)aredepressurised.
Anyhydraulicsystemcontainingan accumulator can remainunder pressure permanently(even after following manualdepressurisationprocedureswithatractor/implementcombination).Itisthereforeimportanttocheckal l l ines, pipes, and screwconnections regularly for leaksand any recognisable externaldamage.
The hydraulic circuit containsspecialisedfittingswhichshouldnotbetamperedwithunderanycircumstances. Do not attempttomodifyhoseroutingsorhoseclampingarrangements,doingsomycauseseriousdamagetothemachineand/orinjury.
1.5 Road Traffic SafetyWhendrivingonpublic roads, tracksandareas,itisimportanttoobservetherelevantroad traffic laws aswell as the specificregulationsrelatingtothismachine.
Payattentiontothepermittedaxleloads, tyrecarryingcapacity,andtotalweight in order tomaintainadequatebrakingandsteerability(these figures are shownon theserialplate).
Passengers on themachine arestrictlyforbidden!
Max.roadtransportspeed16mph(25km/h).
1.6 Accident PreventionInadditiontotheOperatingInstructions,itisimportanttoobservetheaccidentpreventionregulations specifiedby agricultural tradeassociations.ItistheOperator’sresponsibilitytoensurethatallotherpersonsareexcludedfromthedangerzonessurroundingoronthemachineduringitsoperation.
ItistheOwner’sresponsibilitytoensure:
•theOperatoristrainedandcompetenttousethemachine&tractor,•thetractorissuitableforthemachine•adequateRiskandCOSHHassessmentshave been undertaken regarding themachine’s use.Specifically, these includeissues concerning contact with the soil,dust, crop residues, chemicals, lubricantsandothercompoundsduringoperationormaintenance,andthepossibilityofstonesbeingejectedathighspeedduringwork.

Donotstandonthemachinewhileit isinoperation!
Operatorsmusthaveavaliddrivinglicencein order to drive on public roads. In theoperatingarea,theoperatorisresponsibleforthirdparties.
Thepersoninchargemust:
•provide theoperatorwitha copyof theOperatingInstructions,and
• ensure that the operator has read andunderstoodtheinstructions.
•makesurethattheoperatorisawareofthespecificregulationsrelatingtothemachinewhendrivingonpublicroads.
Onlyuseappropriateaidswhencheckingforleaks.Repairanydamageimmediately.Spurtingoilcancauseinjuriesandfires!
Incaseofinjury,contactadoctorimmediately.
The socket and plugs for the hydraulicconnections between the tractor and themachine should be colour-coded in ordertoavoidincorrectuse.
1.6.3 Changing Equipment• Secure themachine toprevent it from
accidentallyrollingaway!• Use suitable supports to secure any
raisedframesectionssuspendedaboveyou!
• Caution!Riskofinjuryduetoprojectingparts!
Never climb on to rotating partssuchastherollunit.Thesepartsmayrotatecausingyoutoslipandsufferseriousinjury!
Removing components duringmaintenance may affect thestabilityof themachine. Ensureit is fully supported in case ofunexpectedweightshifts.
1.6.4 During OperationEnsurethattheworkingrangeandtheareaaround themachine are clear (children!)beforeoperatingthemachine.

1.7 Servicing & MaintenanceEnsurethatregularchecksandinspectionsare always carried outwithin the periodsrequired by law or specified in theseOperatingInstructions.
Whencarryingoutserviceandmaintenanceworkalways:
• switchoffthetractorengineandremovetheignitionkey.
• wait until all themachine parts havestoppedmoving.
• depressurisethehydraulicsystem.
Many hydraulic circuits contain lock orovercentrevalveswhichcanretainpressurein the linesevenafter depressurising thetractor side of these circuits. If in doubt,consult trained personnel (such as yourlocalSimbaGreatPlainsDealer)toensuresuchvalvesaredepressurisedtothecorrectprocedure before removing or servicinganypartsconnecteddownstreamofthesevalves.

1.8 Operating AreasTheoperatingareas include thedrawbar,hydraulicconnectionsanddepthadjustmentequipmentaswellasalloperatingpointsrequiringmaintenance.
All operating areaswill be specified anddescribedindetailinthefollowingchaptersonservicingandmaintenance.
Observeall safety regulations included inthesectiondealingwithSafety,andinthesubsequentsections.
1.9 Authorised OperatorsOnly those persons who have beenauthorisedand instructedby theoperatormay operate themachine.The operatormustbeatleast16yearsofage.
1.10 Protective EquipmentForoperationandmaintenance,yourequire:
•Tightfittingclothing.
• Strong protective gloves (to provideprotection against sharp-edgedmachinecomponents).
•Protectivegoggles(tostopdirtgettingintoyoureyes).
Check all hydraulic lines for leaks, looseconnections, chafemarks and damage.Remedyanydeficienciesimmediately!Payparticularattentiontohoserenewalintervalsas outlined in the specific sectionswhichfollow.ALL hydraulic hoses have a safemaximumworkinglifeof6(SIX)yearsfromdateofinstallation,providedtheyremaininasafecondition.Hoseswhichexceed6yearsofageshouldbereplaced,orinspectedandcertified by a suitably qualified person tohaveanextendedlifeperiodwhichshouldberecorded.
Payparticularattentiontothoseitemswhichrequire specialist service tools or trainingtobecarriedoutbyqualifiedpersonnel.Donotattempttoservicetheseitemsyourself!Theseincludeitemsretainingpressure(e.g.accumulatorcircuits),or force(e.g.springtines),andDDRollsofanytype.
Prior to performing maintenance andservicingwork, ensure that themachineispositionedonsolid, levelgroundand issecured toprevent it rollingaway.Donotuseanyparts toclimbon to themachineunless they are specifically designed forthispurpose.
Before cleaning themachinewithwater,steam jets (high-pressure cleaningapparatus)orothercleaningagents,coverallopeningsintowhich,forreasonsofsafetyoroperation,nowater, steamor cleaningagents are to penetrate (bearings, forinstance).
Lubricateallthelubricatingpointstoforceoutanytrappedwater.
Whencarryingoutservicingandmaintenancework,retightenanyloosescrewconnections.
Whenservicingthemachinetakeprecautionsagainstsoil,dust,seedcoatings,oiloranyotherhazardoussubstancesthatyoumightencounter.
On a newmachine tighten all nuts andboltsafter5hoursworkandagainafter15hours.Thisalsoappliestopartsthathavebeenmovedorreplaced.Aftertheinitial15hoursofworkaonceaweekcheckshouldbesufficientdependingondailyworkrates.

2.3 InstallationWhen carrying out instal lat ion andmaintenancework there is a higher riskofinjury.Itisimportantthatyoufamiliariseyourself with themachine and read theOperatingInstructionsbeforehand.
Operatorinstructionandinitialinstallationofthemachinearecarriedoutbyourservicetechniciansorauthoriseddistributors.
Themachinemustnotbeusedinanywaybeforehand! Themachine can only bereleasedforoperationafterinstructionshavebeenprovidedbyourservicetechniciansorauthoriseddistributors.
• If any modules or parts have beenremovedfortransportation,theseshallbemountedbyourservicetechnicians/authoriseddealersbeforetheinstructiontakesplace.
• Checkallimportantscrewconnections!
• Lubricateallnipplesandjoints!
• Checkallhydraulicconnectionsandlinesfordamage.
2. Transportation and InstallationTransportationandinitialinstallationofthemachinearedescribedinthischapter.
2.1 DeliveryThemachine is normally delivered fullyassembled.

2.4 Hitching Up
Whenhitching-up themachine,ensurethatno-oneisbetweenthetractorandthemachine.
WhentheUniPressisparkedforextendedperiodsoftimeitshouldideally be left in the unfolded,i.e. work, position for stability,safety and ease of access formaintenance.However,parkingthe UniPress in the foldedposition(usingtheparkingstandsprovided) is acceptable in thenormalcourseofoperation.
Tractor Oil Flow Adjustment:Asa general rule the tractor oilflow rate should be set in thelowest setting before starting.This can then be increased toallowthedesiredrateofoperationasapplicable.Thiswillminimiseexcessiveoilflowandconsequentpowerusageandheatgeneration.
Do not open tapswhile tractorhydraulicsareinfloat.
Thehosesintheliftcircuithaveamaximum rated pressure of415bar,andshouldbe replacedevery6years.Othercomponentsin this locking circuit have amaximum rated pressure of atleast350bar.
2.4.1 Hitching up a Tractor to the UniPress / Preparing for Transport
1. Couplethesixhydraulichosestothetractor ensuring that the two winghosesare together, the twodrawbarcylinderhosesaretogetherandthetwolevellingboardhosesaretogether.
2. Connect the tractor to the drawbarusingthehydraulicstoraiseorlowertheheightoftheshackle.Donotusethetractorpick-uphitchtoattachthemachinetothetractor.
3. Carefully operate the hydraulics tolowerthedrawbarandtilttheUniPressontotheroadtransportwheels.Fullyextendthedrawbarcylinder.
4. ThisallowsthelevellingboardstobefullyraisedsothatwhentheUniPressis folded the levellingboardsdonotprotrudebeyondthe3mtransportwidth.Fullyraisethelevellingboards.
5. Operate the hydraulics to fold thewings.
6. Ensurethatthewingstrapisfittedtotiethetwowingsectionstogether.
7. Ensurethatparkingstandsarelockedinthetransportposition,ie.fullyraised.

2.6 Air Brake Coupling Procedure

1. Reverse up to the machine andconnectthemachinetothetractorasinstructedtoinSection2.4.1.
2. With themachine connected coupletheairlines.Whencouplingensuretheyellowlineisattachedfirstfollowedbytheredline.
3. Your brakehoses are nowattachedandarereadyforoperation.
4. ContinuewiththecouplingprocessasinstructedinSection2.4.1.
2.6.2 When De-coupling
1. Bring the machine to the parkingpositionasinstructedtoinSection2.9.
2. With themachine still connected tothetractorremovetheredbrakelinefollowedbytheyellowline.
3. YourbrakeswillnowbeONandwillhold,ensuringtheyhavebeenadjustedandmaintainedcorrectly,themachineinposition.(note:ifthemachine‘stankis drained of air once all lines havebeendetachedthebrakeswillcomeoff(samesituationaspushingtheshuntvalve).

3. Lowerthedisccultivatortotheground.
4. ConnectthehydraulichosesfromtheUniPress into thedisccultivator rearoutletsensuring that thewinghosesaretogetherandthedrawbarcylinderhoses are together.Ensure that thefoldingcircuitsandliftdrawbarcircuitsarecoupledcorrectly.
5. Raise theUniPress drawbar abovethe disc drawbar (200mmapprox.).Depthcontrolshimsmayneedtoberemoved.

2.7.2 Transporting a UniPress Towed Behind a Disc Cultivator
Withbothmachinesinthetransportpositioni.e.raisedandfolded,thechassisofthedisccultivatorshouldbeslightlynosedownorhorizontal evenwhen thedownward loadfromtheUniPressisappliedtothedrawbarof the disc cultivator.The chassis shouldNEVERbetaillowintransportasthiswillgiveahighnegativeloadingonthetractorwhichcould lead to lossof traction to therearwheels.
Extremecautionmustbe takenwhen theUniPressistransportedupsteepgradientsand across side slopes.Higher drawbarloadingcanbeachievedbyshorteningthedrawbarcylinder.
Priortoleavingthefieldtotravelonapublichighwayensure thatanyclodsofsoilareremovedfromthemachinetopreventthemfromfoulingtheroad.

4.5 Work SettingsInwork thewingcylindersshouldbe fullyextended.Thegangsareabletofloatoveranyundulationsonthegroundduetotheirfloatingframes.
Optimum performance has been foundto be achievedwhen the press roll ringshavewornawaythepaintedfinishleavinga smooth shiny surface.When the pressrollringsareneworrusty,soilmaytendtopickupon thesurfaceandblockagemayoccur, thiswill reducewhen the ringsareshinyagain.
TheUniPressshouldberunwiththechassislevelfronttorearbyextendingthedrawbarcylinders to the necessary position.Thecylindersshouldnotbeoverextendedasthiswillremovetheloadontheringswhichcould lead to reduced drive and henceblockageoftheaxles.
ItisnotnecessarytotilttheUniPressontothetransportwheelsduringheadlandturnswhetherthemachineisusedindependentlyorintandemwithadisccultivator.Normally,theUniPressshouldbetiltedsufficientlyontotherollforthetinesandlevellingboardstocleartheground(atwhichpointtherearaxlewheelswillstillbeclearofgroundcontact).
4.5.1 Levelling BoardsThelevellingboardsaresetusingshimsinthelevellingboardcylinders.Duringwork,thesecylindersshouldberetractedontotheshimsbutcanbeextendedtoreleaseanysoil/trashbuildup.
Withthechassissetleveladdshimsuntilthelevellingboardsarecarryingsoil.Thelevel-lingboardswillneedtobesethigherduring1stpassoperationsespeciallyonploughedlandwherelargeclodsmaynotbeabletopassunderorbetweenthesprungleaves.

General Rules when Setting the UniPress
• Runslightlytaillowtogiveincreasedclod cutting and consolidation inharderconditions.
• In trashy conditions the use of thelevellingboardmaybelimitedduetorakingtrash.
• Increasetherakeangleofthelevellingboardinspringtimeoperationtocarrymoresoilforlevelling.
• Reducerakeangleonlevellingboardtoholdsoilandrubclodagainstclodinharderconditions.Thiswillalsoalignclodswith theDD rings facilitatingbettercutting.
Theboardsneedtocarryacertainamountofsoiltoeffectalevellingoperationandalsotogiveaclodtoclodcrushingaction.
WhenreversingtheUniPressintocornerswhenworking headlands ensure that thelevelling boards are fully raised and themachinetiltedontotherollringsfarenoughtoallowthelowerendsofthesprungleavestocleartheground.
4.6 Pitch ControlPitchcontrolontheUniPress isgovernedbythequantityofshimsfittedtothedepthstops attached to the drawbar cylinders.Increasingthenumberofshimswillliftthefrontofthechassiswhenloweredintotheworkposition.
RunningtheUniPresslevelallowsthepressringstogiveanevenconsolidationandclodcrushingaction,withthesprungleavesofthelevellingboardaidingtheclodcrushingaction,aligningtheclodsfortherollrings.
Running themachine significantly nosedownorraisedwillreducetheloadontherearaxleleadingtolossofdriveoftheaxleandthenblockage,togetherwithareducedconsolidationeffect.
Ifanyrollaxlestartstoblockregularly,thisisgenerallyanindicationthattherollaxleisnottight.Failuretokeeptheaxlestightresultsinlossofdrivebetweeneachpairofringsallowing rings to turn individuallyontheaxle.Shouldthisoccurtheaxlemustbetightenedimmediatelytopreventanydam-ageoccurringtotheaxleshaft.
IftherollaxlesstarttoblockregularlythismayalsobeanindicationthatthegroundconditionsaretoowetfortheUniPresstobeeffective.
InpracticeitispossibletousetheUniPressongroundconditionsthatareunsuitabletoachievethedesiredeffect,anditisusuallypossible to operate themachinewithoutregular blockage under such unsuitableconditions,assumingthattheaxlesaretightandringssmooth.
Assuch,especially underwet conditions,it is advisable to checkon the cultivationeffectoftheUniPress.Oftentheuseofthepress12-24hoursafterthediscorlongerfollowing the plough gives a far superiorsurfaceconsolidationeffect.

WhentheUniPressisusedtiltedontotherings the loadingon thedisc cultivator ortractordrawbarisincreased.Thiswillcausetherearofthedisctodigdeepermovingthereargangtotheright.Shorteningthedisccultivatorlevellingspringsshouldallowthedisccultivatortopullstraightagain.Equally,increased tractor drawbar loadings willdeepenwheelingsrequiringmoreeffort toeradicatethese.
ItisnotnecessarytotilttheUniPressontothetransportwheelsduringheadlandturnswhetherthemachineisusedindependentlyorintandemwithadisccultivator.
Fully extending the drawbarcylinder and then reversing intotheheadlandfurrowcouldleadtodamageofthecylinder.
4.7 Using ShimsBeforeusingshimstoaltermachinesettingsensure themachine is stationary and thetractoristurnedoffwiththekeysout.Ensurethatalloperatorsareclearofthemachineandthatnoloadisbeingheldonanyexistingshimsinthecylinder.
Tofittheshimsholdthembythehandleand,usingafirmaction,clipthemontotherodasshowninFig. 4.05.Theyareremovedbyusingafingertopullfirmlyonthehandle.
Check thecylinders fordamageanddebrisbeforefittingshims.
Only attempt to add or removeshimsusingthehandle.Tryingtomanipulateshimsusingthejawscouldresultininjury.
Whenchangingmachinesettingsensurebothsidesofthemachinemirroreachother.The lefthandcylindershouldcontainthesameamountofshimsastheright,forexample.Failuretodothiscouldresultindamagetothemachine.

5.4 Hydraulics
A low oil flow should be used,i.e., tractor tickover or low flowselected.
Thewingcircuitiscontrolledbyanovercentrevalvecontainedwithinthemanifoldblockwhichpositivelylocksoilflowuntilpressurisedbythetractor.Systempressurecanbe retained in the circuiteven after depressurisation of thetractorquickreleasecouplings.
Exercise extreme care whenchecking the valve or circuits,and under no circumstancesattempttoadjustorloosenfittingswithout prior reference to yourauthorisedSimbaGreat Plainsdealer,anddetailedmaintenanceinstructions.

To ensure trouble-free operation,it is important that servicing andmaintenanceworkisperformedattherecommendedintervals.
5.2 CleaningIn order to ensure that themachine isalwaysinoperatingconditionandtoachieveoptimumperformance,performthecleaningandservicingworkatregularintervals.

Safelysupportunfoldedmachinein raised position using tapsand stands before attemptingmaintenanceworkontines.
Donotattempttoassistfittingtinepointswithasteelheadedhammer,thiscanleadtosplinteringofthemetalduetoitshardness,whichcan cause injury. If tine fittingrequires assistance, a copper/hideor plasticmallet should beused.

Never use a machine that is due formaintenance.Ensure that all deficienciesfoundduringregularchecksareremediedimmediately.
5.11 To Adjust the System Pressure
A low oil flow should be used,i.e., tractor tickover or low flowselected.
Thewingcircuitiscontrolledbyanovercentrevalvecontainedwithinthemanifoldblockwhichpositivelylocksoilflowuntilpressurisedbythetractor.Systempressurecanbe retained in the circuiteven after depressurisation of thetractorquickreleasecouplings.
Exercise extreme care whencheckingthevalveorcircuits,andunder no circumstancesattempttoadjustorloosenfittingswithoutpriorreferencetoyourauthoriseddealer,anddetailedmaintenanceinstructions.
Itisnormaltooperateat10-20bar.Thiscanbeincreasedto40-50barmax,orreducedto5barasconditionsdetermine. Higherpressurewillcausethewingtips todig incausingthecentreofthemachinetoliftitout.Toolittlepressurewillcausethewingtipstoliftout&thecentreofthemachinetodigin.WhentowinganotherimplementbehindtheUniPress,thepressuremayneedincreasingtocompensate.
Inallcasesthenormaladjustmentmethodis tominimise systempressure and thenincrease by adjusting the pressure valveuntilthedesiredpressureisachieved.
In all cases, regardless of tractormake,adjustmentshouldstartfromzero(minimumpressure) and gradually increase up todesiredpressurevalue.
5.9 Brakes & Wheel HubsThebrakesshouldbetestedbeforeusingforthefirsttimeandafterthefirstladenjourney.
Checkthattheroadandparkingbrakes operate and releasecorrect ly before using themachine.

1. Pressurisethewingstounfold.Astheunfoldingbeginsthepressurereadingon the gauge will drop.When thewingshavefullyunfoldedthepressurereading will start to climb. Keeppressurisingthewingsuntilthegaugehasstabilisedatthepre-setpressure.Thestandardfactorysettingis15bar.
2. Ifthesystemneedsadjusting:-Partiallyfold the wings & hold them in thisposition.Toadjustthepressureutilisevalve3(shown in Fig. 5.03).Unscrewtheadjustingscrewuntilnoresistancecan be felt (almost fully unscrewedposition). Unfold thewings fully asbefore, checking thegauge reading.Maintainhydraulicpressureunfoldingwings & adjust the screw whilstpressurising.
• Turningadjusterclockwiseincreasespressure.
• Turning adjuster anti-clockwisedecreasespressure.
Oncethedesiredpressureisachievedlockthevalve.Asacheck,partiallyfoldthewings,stop, and then unfold againmaintainingpressureuntilthegaugestabilisesatyourdesiredsetting.

It is important to takeextremecarewhenhandlingwasteoilasitmaycontainotherirritants.
Vapoursgivenoffbycleaningagentsandoilsarealsoapotentialhealthhazard.Youshouldthereforenotcarryanyoilyclothsaround.Change soiledwork clothing assoonaspossible.
