In this School Matters:
On Monday 10th September KM enjoyed a lovely afternoon of Buddy Reading with some very helpful Year
5 students. 5M shared picture books with their Kindy friends and the clever Kinders even got to read one
of their own books to their buddy. THANK YOU 5M for your time and encouragement. KM look forward to
the next visit from their Buddy Readers.
The office continues to hold a large collection of lost property items
including a ring, Pandora bead, Hogwarts earrings, Garmin fitness tracker,
earphones, watches and more.
CHANGES TO SKOOLBAG APP
Due to changes to Apple policy, individual Skoolbag apps are no longer supported in the app store and
therefore will not receive critical updates. Users are also reporting issues
with attachments not downloading.
We have been advised to delete the individual ‘Blaxland East Public
School’ Skoolbag app and download the single Skoolbag app in the
App Store or Google Play store.
You can then add multiple schools within the single Skoolbag app if you
have children at more than one school, and easily switch between them
from within the app.
You can now submit absence notifications and change of details information via the Skoolbag
app.
Go to the Home menu within Skoolbag and choose eForms.
A reminder that when returning permission notes for school activities it is a legal
requirement to return a SEPARATE permission note for each child.
In addition, if returning multiple notes for more than one child/activity, there is no
need to put each note in separate envelope. We are able to process multiple
payments for multiple activities/children in the one transaction.
PLEASE PUT YOUR CHILD/REN’S FULL NAME AND CLASS ON PERMISSION NOTES!
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Congratulations to all our competitors who attended the Zone Athletics Carnival last
Friday. Every single one of you was a star and you represented your school with
courage and pride. A special mention to Isla Puri, Ryley King, Will Haydon, Junior
Girls’ Relay and Junior Boys’ Relay teams who all set new records at the carnival. Well done.
A big thank you to Ashlee Thomas who organised the day and to all the
teachers and parents who helped on the day. Without your help and
assistance the day would not have run so well.
Our Fete on Saturday was a huge success and a huge thank you goes out to
all the P&C, parent volunteers, teachers and others who helped and assisted
with the smooth running of the day. Everyone I spoke to said they had a
wonderful time. Well done everyone.
In addition, our Book Parade on Tuesday was a huge success, with all the
students having a great time dressing up as their favourite character. There
were some very creative outfits! Thanks to Mrs Swatridge for her
organisation of the day and to all the teachers who supported the students throughout the day.
Looking ahead, we have a Stage 3 Basketball Day, Regional Athletics, K–2 Sports Day, Kindergarten
Transition and Aussie of the Month Assembly to finish the term. After that, a short break for everyone
before we hit busy Term four.
We are currently starting to plan our classes and teaching staff for 2019, so we would appreciate families
letting us know if they will not be returning to BEPS next year. We are very close to forming an
additional class in 2019 so students leaving will affect our class structure and staffing. Thank you in
anticipation of your assistance with this.
Enjoy the last two weeks of Term 3.
Cheers
Kerry.

What is not to love about
spring? The sunshine and
rain, the helping hands and
many bright colours of joy!
Thanks to Cass at Bunnings
Valley Heights we were able
to pot and sell our pots for 1D
and 3-6T at the Fete. Thank
you to everyone for your help
planting, donating seedlings
and help with the plant stall.
While we have been focused on plants for
the Fete, we have also been busy preparing
the garden for open days and the Fete and
fertilising the beds ready for spring planting
in the next few weeks. We have a few
capsicums and lettuce as well as other seedlings to go in
You may have noticed that our Garden Club
volunteers have upgraded the Grow Free
Cart. It is the only one in NSW that is
available 24/7. We have volunteers growing
seeds and plants from home to drop off and hope to
get the classes involved at school. 1D helped plant some
two weeks ago ready to grow and share. If you have
any spare seeds, seedlings or produce you would
like to share with the community, please feel free to
drop them off on the cart. Please leave grow free
cart containers so we can keep giving.
If you would like to join us for a cuppa and chat
while we work, our next working bee for Garden
Friends Club is Tuesday 16 October, however we will be around in the
meantime. If you would like to donate seeds, seedlings, or just chat
gardening, we would love to see you.
Leave us a message at the office or email [email protected]
How to order at school or online
Lunch orders must be placed in class baskets before 9.00am each morning. Lunches are delivered to the
classrooms at the beginning of lunchtime.
Students in Kindergarten and Year 1 may order recess through class baskets and buy snacks and drinks
over the counter at lunchtime.
You can also order online via Our Online Canteen (now called QuickCliq) - information can be found
here.
