INTRODUCING YOUR JUDGESMRS JEANNIE BOYD (AIRLIE)

In 1970 an event occurred that changed my life forever. I acquired a Cavalier, and that formed my lifelong commitment to the breed and its welfare. I was privileged to move through the decades with Cavaliers at my side, always enjoying dog shows and making great friends sharing our love of the breed.I became a founder and honorary member of Eastern Counties Society as well as a committee member (1978-99). I am proud that this Society was the first to adopt a welfare & rescue service. In 1978 I was appointed by the Cavalier KCS Club onto their Welfare & Rescue working party.I became a member of all the Cavalier Clubs and of the Kennel Club, serving on the CKCS Club for three sessions and becoming their Vice-Chairman. I was on the Blenheim sub-committee for three years planning the event – a Championship Show held in 2010 in the stunning grounds of the Palace. The show, preceded by a banquet, became a wonderful weekend of celebrating the Cavalier, and has gone down in the history of the breed as a spectacular pageant.I arranged an exhibition of the “Cavalier in Art” at the Kennel Club’s Art Gallery in their Mayfair headquarters… but of course, the most magical of all my magical moments in the breed was the crowning of Ch. Wandris Comedian at Airlie JW, a Cavalier I owned amongst some other very successful show dogs.My first judging appointment was in 1977 and I have judged consistently both at home and abroad. I feel both humble and excited that my path has now led me to judge (dogs) at this most prestigious show and I am looking forward to it with great delight.

Jeannie

MISS SHEENA MACLAINE (PENNYGOWN)My parents bought our first Cavalier in 1963 when I was just two and had been badly bitten by a Dachshund (ironically I am now owned by these too!). I registered my kennel affix “Pennygown” in 1970 and by the age of 13 owned one of each colour. Since that time I have bred three overseas Champions and have judged six UK Breed Club Championship Shows and a total of 17 Championship Shows in the UK since 1988. I was honoured to judge the bitches at Crufts in 2012. I have also had the privilege of judging around the world making new friends in lots of countries sharing the love of our breed. Our home houses the combination of my mum’s Lochbuie Cavaliers, still going strong with a few of my Pennygown Cavaliers and hubby, Andy Vella’s Cinderaic. Having campaigned the Blenheim, Lochbuie Geordie to her eight CCs and three RCCs and Top Bitch in the UK 2008 I was lucky to campaign her ruby grand-daughter, Lochbuie Taken As Red to her title in 2013. 2013 was a fabulous year, I won two of Cinderaic Seduction’s CCs whilst Andy won the all important third CC just after our wedding. Seduction kindly stayed at home to make way for mum’s ruby boy, Ch Lochbuie Cappuccino, nine CC, nine RCCs. Chino’s outstanding achievement equals the breed record for a ruby! I have served on the Cavalier Club Committee wearing a variety of hats over numerous years including that of Chairman. I cannot believe it was nine years ago when I was both Chairman & Show Manager of our Blenheim Bonanza Weekend and cannot tell you how thrilled I was to receive this invitation when I had finished my six years in the Chair, not expecting to be needed to Chair once again.

16. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance

to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. • When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on

a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. • If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good

idea at all. • The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with

lots of water available to drink. • Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the

dog. • When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. • Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have

plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.

Page 9: of Unbenched BREED CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW - Fosse Datafossedata.co.uk/downloads/pdf/CAVC_AUG_19_Schedule.pdfof Unbenched BREED CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW (held under Kennel Club Limited Rules and

• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time.

Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.

17. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. The use of pinch collars, electronic shock collars, or prong collars, is not permitted at any show licensed by the Kennel Club. This shall apply at the venue or within the precincts of the show.
