Sunday’s Focus
Until then. “I can’t wait until…”
Have you ever considered how
God wants you to live between
“now” and “then?” The Lord
speaks a Word of encourage-
ment to us as we live in the
“gap,” between now and eternal
life. He calls us to be faithful, to
pray, to seek the welfare of oth-
ers…until that glorious Day
when Jesus Christ will return in
power and glory as Lord and
King. Until then…

“New Beginnings” Emphasis
Last Sunday, we began a spiritual
growth and stewardship renewal
process called, “New Beginnings.”
This process will feature prayer
vigils, worship, Bible studies, a
church-wide dinner, and other
opportunities for us to grow in
our faith, become stronger in our
management of life, and indicate
our commitment to building our
own ministry center. This will be
great!
Prayer Vigil on October 14th
Plan now to stop by sometime
between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
for a brief hour of prayer. This
Prayer Vigil is part of our New
Beginnings emphasis. You will
not be in the church alone. We
will pray for the needs of our
church, community, nation, fami-
lies and others. Our prayer team
will be setting up several mean-
ingful prayer stations. There will
be a prayer request booklet to
guide you through your hour of
prayer. You will be richly blessed
by this time with Jesus. Take part!
What’s Next?
Adult Education is happening!

The Mission of Jesus, Unashamed,
Life Management, and Uninvited.

to attend!
Spiritual Gifts Study Resumes
This Tuesday!
On Tuesday, October 11th, 7:00
p.m., we will continue our study
on spiritual gifts. It’s time to de-
velop, discover and use your
spiritual gifts. What’s your gift?
Join us for this important study.
My Faith Votes
Pledge to vote on November 8,
2016. No longer can we, as believ-
ers in Christ, afford to be indiffer-
ent or assume that, through the
actions of others, our nation will
be restored. It’s a period in Amer-
ica’s history that’s now calling for
more. It calls for the intentional
commitment of all 90 million be-
lievers, who, united by the convic-
tion of our faith, pledge to vote.
Pledge to vote in every election.
Become informed about your
choices. Pray faithfully for Amer-
ica. Vote from a biblical world-
view. Go to: https://

Men’s Prayer on Tuesday at 6:41
Our Men Praying for Revival
prayer group meets at First Chris-
tian Church each Tuesday at 6:41
a.m. We finish our prayer time by
7:00 a.m. All the men of the church
are encouraged to attend. Bring a
friend.
All-Church Bible Study
As part of our New Beginnings
process we will have an all-
church Bible study on Sunday,
November 2nd, at 4pm. Everyone
is strongly urged to attend. This
will bless your life.
Unashamed - Young Adult
Study
“Unashamed: Drop the Baggage,
Pick up Your Freedom, Fulfill Your
Destiny,” a DVD-based study, is
the focus of our young adult
study on Sunday mornings 10:15
a.m. Shame can take on many
forms. It hides in the shadows of
the most successful, confident
and high-achieving persons. But
there is freedom in Jesus! Take
hold of the power of Jesus today
and step into the future - His fu-
ture for you - a beautiful, full, life-
giving future, where you can
even become a shame-lifter to
others. Live unashamed! Please
attend and bring a friend.
Jesus Follower Quotes
“Jesus called His followers to be a
lot of things, but I have yet to find
where He warned us to be safe.”
Katie Davis

We must pray for each other!
Please put your Prayer Vigil re-
quest(s) on the form in this Sun-
day’s worship folder. Then put
the form in the box on the table in
the foyer. You may also give it to

nik, Tami Christoffersen, Diane
Fischer or Shelly Hall. We will put
your requests into a Prayer Vigil
Booklet to be used by all who
take part on October 14th.
The Mission of Jesus - 10.9.16
We have begun a new Focus on
the Family study, called “The Mis-
sion of Jesus.” The second session
will be on October 9th, from 4:00-
5:30 p.m. This course celebrates
the triumph of God’s kingdom in
our broken world. This is a 5-

Vander Laan, historian and theo-
logian. Study Guide is $10. Join

Trunk or Treat
Do you have a trunk? Help us to
bless the children of our commu-
nity on Halloween by providing a
safe, Godly event to show that
darkness will never win, and the
light of Jesus will shine brightly
even for ghouls and goblins. We
will meet at our Deerfield prop-
erty on Halloween. It’s always a
fun night! Questions? See Linda.

Our
House of
Prayer!
Sometimes, all it takes is just ONE
PRAYER to change everything.
Come to House of Prayer ~ this
Tuesday ~ 6:30 p.m, immediately
preceding our Spiritual Gifts
study.
Missional Identity
Missional is not an activity. It’s
an identity! You are God’s
woman, man or child. As Chris-
tians, we are not people who “do
ministry.” We are ministers. We
are not people who “do mission.”
We are missionaries. As we live
out our identity as missionaries,
we will start to see our everyday
activities as opportunities to be
witnesses for Christ. Be Jesus to
the world. Ready, set, go!
Missional Idea
Invite someone to our Prayer
Vigil on October 14th. This will
be a beautiful, quiet time to pray
and reflect on the Lord’s good-
ness. It will be a low-key, no
pressure time, when you can
pray for them, and with them.
CROP Walk on October 9th
You are invited to participate in
the CROP Walk on Sunday, Oc-
tober 9th. You may seek spon-
sors for your walk, donate to
the cause, or simply participate
in the Walk. 25% of all funds
raised will go to the Washing-
ton County Food Pantry. Regis-
tration and CROP Donation En-
velope “Turn-In” is 12:30 to
1:00 pm. The Walk begins at
1:00 pm. See Al Bilau this Sun-
day for forms and other infor-
mation. Help combat hunger
and poverty on next Sunday.
Bibles

If one of our
guests needs a
Bible, the NIV
v e r s i o n
(paperback) is available at our
table in the foyer of the church.
Be watching for guests every
week, especially this Sunday. You
may also give a Bible to an
unchurched neighbor or friend.
The Word has power!

PLAN YOUR CLEANING SCHED-
ULE!!!! This is a quick reminder for the cleaning teams to check the paper calendar at FCC, located on left side of our church bulletin board. There is a bridal shower week one of October and a Friday wed-ding rehearsal with the wedding on Sat-
urday of week 4 in October. The fol-lowing week is a 6 hour prayer vigil for our church. Both churches have their electronic calendar which would be the most up-to-date. The paper calendar helps to coordinate the space usage for both churches. There have been times both churches were needing the same space, so adjustments were necessary.
