Hello Rocky Mountain District!
Thank you all for your effort in making 2018-2019 a great year! Under Past Governor Tim Sheppard’s leadership we grew our membership to help us impact more children and work toward ful-filling the mission of Kiwanis. For this next year I hope your club will continue to look at strategies to increase the number of hearts and hands for your club projects so we impact even more children in our communities. If your club would like help in developing a strategy, don’t hesitate to reach out to your Lt. Governor for assistance to give you options you may not be considering. Your District board wants to support your club in any way we can and be a resource to strengthen your club. We also want to encourage all clubs to have more fun throughout the year. Fun club meetings and projects improve the value of being a Kiwanis member and creates a contagious, positive energy that you can share with anyone you interact with, whether it be a pro-spective new member, a SLP member, or anyone else you interact with in your community. As leaders and Kiwanians, I ask you to include more fun in your club and by doing so I know that there is nothing that can hold your club back from achieving the goals you set for this year. Let’s Grow our Hearts to improve the world one child and one community at a time!
Yours in service,
Derek Manley 2019 - 2020 RMD Kiwanis Governor
Greetings fellow Kiwanians. Wow, what a year it has been! I congratulate Governor Tim and his outstanding team for their amazing accomplishments during the 2018/19 year. Their dedication and focus have been truly inspiring! My year as your Executive Director has been full of excite-
ment, change, learning, sometimes a little chaos, but most of all - Kiwanis love! Having the opportunity to connect with my Kiwanis family and serve in this capacity has been a true blessing. I sincerely thank each of you for your kindness and encouragement as I take on this new professional endeavor. Your district office will be in great hands with Josephine! I look forward to seeing you at Mid-Year in Denver as well as at the 2020 District Convention in Gering. I look MOST forward to celebrat-ing with you all in Indianapolis in June when Bert wins the Kiwanis Interna-tional VP race! Yours in Kiwanis service,
Kelly Steck-James
Hello everyone! My name is Josephine Young. I’ve been a Kiwanian for about 6 years now, with the Kiwanis club of Wheatland, and also work for the Rocky Mountain District Foundation. I have seen countless lives changed because of the work of the Rocky Moun-tain District and its clubs, and I feel so excited and blessed to now be included at this capacity.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me for any reason. I genuinely look forward to having the opportunity to speak with you all and am excited about the direction the district is headed in this year.
Here we go!

these are the handprints of your 2019-2020 district board
Your donations and contributions to the Rocky Mountain District Kiwanis Foun-dation make grants and support of the District Signature Projects possible.
Thank you!
Our Mission: To financially assist the clubs in their efforts to protect the health, safety and welfare of the children in
their communities.
Kiwanis is about having fun: in service and in fundraising!
It’s exci ng to be a Kiwanian and serve on your Rocky Mountain District Kiwanis Founda on Board…now more than ever. I’m in awe of the tal-ent of the people that you’ve elected to the Board, and we look forward to serving you and the children within the District this year.
The Founda on Board will meet on October 12th to kick-off the new year and present a check for $10,000 to the Ronald McDonald House in Col-orado Springs. Soon we will help fund Key Leader and several grants, in-cluding some resul ng from last year’s “Let’s Grow” campaign.
To meet the needs of the children in the District, we must work hard to innovate our fundraising. We will push a three-pronged effort that includes developing strategies for fundraising outside of Kiwanis, branding Kiwanis legacy giving, and con nuing to leverage our successful Founda on fundraising through “Fun-raising” ac vi es. We’re also developing new dona on recogni on ideas that will re-ward giving at many levels.
To start, we will be working with Dillard’s at Chapel Hills Mall in Colorado Springs for a Kiwanis shop-ping fundraiser on November 10th with light refreshments, live entertainment, and prizes. Then on December 10th, we will par cipate in Colorado Gives Day. This is important because a percentage of your dona on to the Founda on is matched by others. Join us for some fun at the Colorado State Capital on December 3rd for the Colorado Gives Day Rally!
As always, you are welcome to a end any or all of our Founda on Board mee ngs and func ons. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any other Founda on Board member if we can help you or your club.
Let’s have some fun!
